KABALEVSKY THE COMEDIANS LSC 2398 - Classic Records 2LP Single-Sided 45RPM limited edition of Side Two of the all-time audiophile classic, LSC 2398 ("Masquerade Suite/The Comedians"), with Kiril Kondrashin conducting the RCA Victor Symphony Orchestra. Long out of print, this copy is sealed and mint.
This title was issued during Classic Records' initial efforts at releasing singled-sided pressings at 45RPM (which reached their apex with the Clarity Vinyl sets). In the early days, Classic Records actually included a fully printed album cover for EACH record in the set; it took a while before they saved money by placing LP1 in a printed sleeve, while all other LPs were stored in generic white cardboard covers. This early Classic Records issue comes with two fully-printed sleeves.
LSC2398 is legendary among audiophiles: gorgeous string tone, huge soundstage, thrilling dynamics, and the Comedians is an up-tempo delight. Now's your chance to get this long out of print collectible at a fair market price.
NOTE: The outer shrink wrap tends to reflect the image of the overhead ceiling fixture. If you see a round white/blue circle on the cover, that is the reflection.

ABOUT 45 RPM PRESSINGS
A lot of audiophile titles get reissued as 45 rpm sets for several reasons, but the most important one is because they almost universally sound better than a 33 1/3 version.
This is not hype. LPs pressed at 45 rpm offer a wider dynamic range, deeper bass, and sweeter top end. While 33 1/3 offers more convenience (more tracks/time per side before you have to flip the LP over), there are significant tradeoffs, including more compression (particularly as the stylus moves closer to the center) and lower frequency extension (you need physical space to cut deep bass wavelengths into vinyl).
I’ve played “A/B” comparisons for a lot of folks (mostly non-audiophiles), and no one has yet chosen a 33 1/3 title over a 45 rpm version. It is NOT subtle.
ABOUT SHIPPING AND HANDLING: Please note there is a $3 fee included in Ebay's estimate of Media Mail shipping costs. I believe the best way to way to ship an LP includes a 13"x14"x3" "pizza" style box, 12"x12" cardboard flats, outer shopping bag, and bubble wrap. The shipping boxes alone cost me over $3 each, and the average total cost of shipping materials is around $4.72, so this is NOT a money-maker for me. However, it does ensure, consistently, that these high value LPs arrive safely. Please check my feedback and I think you'll see that buyers appreciate the care with which these precious artifacts are handled.

COMBINED SHIPPING: I am more than happy to combine shipping. Ebay buyers pay the actual postage costs. If a single LP is purchased, the buyer pays actual postage and $3 for shipping materials. If two LPs are purchased, the buyer pays actual postage and $3 for shipping materials. If three or more LPs are purchased, the buyer pays actual postage and $0 for shipping materials (I will absorb the cost of materials). As the final amount can only be calculated after auctions have ended, I will issue the appropriate refund on the day the LPs are shipped.

About Me: I'm a long time Ebay buyer intent on selling a significant portion of my LP collection over the next year or two (or three!). I believe in the auction process, so I'm NOT going to list records at absurdly high prices, and I look forward to getting rare, out of print records into the hands of music lovers, record collectors and audiophiles (I consider myself all of the above). All LPS stored in a smoke-free, climate controlled environment.

Please check my feedback and BID WITH CONFIDENCE. Also, please take a look at other items I'm listing (new items will be listed on Sunday and Wednesday nights), and good luck!

PayPal Payments Only. Payment required within 3 days after the end of auction. All records will ship USPS Media Mail.
