FANTASTIC 1967 =MINT VINYL= ORIGINAL!
NEIL YOUNG's BACK UP BAND: CRAZY HORSE...
(((Neil Young's CRAZY HORSE)))
"THE ROCKETS"
\ USA - WHITE WHALE RECORDS - WWS 7116
Always been ...HARD TO FIND ...
MINT VINYL!
Original 1968 first pressing early California hipster crew - led by Danny Whitten who caught the ear of Neil Young...
A lost link in the saga of West Coast rock, LA’s Rockets cut one LP in 1968 for White Whale Records...This was the band that Neil Young roped in three of its members, Molina, Talbot & Whitten who backed Neil Young on "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" and made this ONE timeless & classic album (without Young) in 1971, Crazy Horse, which could be described as Rock 'n' Rockets Roll. You can hear much of Neil Young's "Everybody Knows This Nowhere"- sound here. Danny Witten's guitar playing inspired Neil Young to the point where they both sounded alike and the style became Neils' trademark). The tracks within add to the picture of who Danny Whitten was & why Neil Young regarded him so high to hire most of The Rockets as his backing band. Overall, it's a fine and catchy rural-edged rocker with jangly guitar and a vibe infectious the ear, including plenty of tasty licks by Danny Whitten. Despite the Rockets’ brief life, this rare, self-titled LP is no mere rock ’n’ roll footnote. Lashed with the keening, unsettled lines of electric violinist Bobby Notkoff and brimming with crunching blues rock (“Mr. Chips,” “Pills Blues”), acid-doused meanderings (“Let Me Go,” “Stretch Your Skin”), and sunny, melodic poprock (“I Won’t Always Be Around”), The Rockets is a solid and underrated late-’60s gem that represents a formative chapter of the Neil Young/Crazy Horse story.

CONDITION: The Cover: Sharp and stiff, has a couple of minor issues. There is a tiny (small small) delete dril at top right, there are light (light!) crinkle at top right and bottom right tip of corner - see photo - still looks fine as a collection keeper with NO need to upgrade, rated VG++ and is all colorful, and really, the cover is hard to find even this clean ...there are no writing, no spit seams...the back group cover photo is "EX" (excellent)
The Vinyl: all clean...shiny, smooth and clear, a top rated M- copy that plays quiet and outstanding ... no audio problems... both White Whale labels are clean
A cool addition to anyone's music library!
