PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

TOP COPY! ........ DONOVAN'S PEAK ACID-FOLK album....

ORIGINAL 1968 first pressing of perhaps Donovan's most psychedelic infected album from the sixties...another album that was not released in the UK due to contract obligations...

Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones formed Led Zeppelin after the recording sessions for The Hurdy Gurdy Man. Jimmy Page was in The Yardbirds at the time. Donovan has declared in several interviews that it was indeed Jimmy Page played the famous guitar solo on Hurdy Gurdy Man. At first, Donovan wanted Jimi Hendrix to play guitar in the song, but he was unavailable so they contacted Jimmy Page instead.

1968's "Hurdy Gurdy Man" found Donovan continuing his partnership with producer Mickie Most. Musically the set's quite varied and experimental, with Donovan continuing to explore a unique blend of acid-folk. The title track's one of the heaviest and best psych tracks Donovan ever released. Similar success include the Eastern-influenced acoustic drone 'Peregrine' (shades of George Harrison), the groovy shuffle 'Get Thy Bearings' and the lilting Caribbean-flavored 'West Indian Lady'. 'Teas' sound like it was lifted off the start of The Beatles' 'Blue Jay Way'...This is sort of Donovan's counterpart to the Beatles' White Album, which should come as no surprise since a number of the tracks for both albums were written during the artists' sojourn together at Rishikesh. Both albums display a widely eclectic range of styles...

. Peregrine was dedicated to George Harrison. Metaphorically, the "boats upon the sea" were George Harrison's thoughts.

· Donovan wrote West Indian Lady when he was in India studying Meditation, he actually had a poster of an Indian girl on his bedroom's wall.

· Jennifer Juniper was written for Jennifer Boyd, Pattie Boyd's younger sister, on whom Donovan had a crush. Juniper was the name of a boutique Jennifer Boyd ran in London. They went together to the famous trip to India with all the Beatles. Jennifer Boyd appears in a short movie directed by Karl Ferris called Wear Your Love Like Heaven, when Donovan was preparing his album A Gift From A Flower To A Garden. Despite the rumours around the song and the possibility of a love affair between them, Donovan denied anything happened in his autobiography The Hurdy Gurdy Man. He just wrote the song because he felt like doing it. The words Jennifer and Juniper are etymologically the same. It was recorded in January 1968, right before they went to India.

· This album includes two songs Donovan wrote in collaboration with his best friend Gypsy Dave, The River Song and A Sunny Day, and a song completely by Gypsy Dave, Tangier. It is especially in these songs where a big influence of Indian's music can be heard.

· Donovan says in his autobiography that Mal Evans (The Beatles' road manager) co-wrote The Sun Is A Very Magic Fellow while in India.

· This album was not released in the UK because of the continuing contractual dispute.

· Teen Angel was originally the B side to the Hurdy Gurdy Man single.
