The classic David Bowie show from his first U.S. tour in 1972 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, captures Bowie as Ziggy Stardust. He had released The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars in June of '72, and after a European tour, landed in America. On the oft-bootlegged recording, KMET personalities B. Mitchell Reed and Richard Kimball introduce the show, which was broadcast live on the station, and immediately Bowie rips into a heavy duty extended 10+ minutes version of "Width Of A Circle," with killer wired guitar mania... From there, Bowie hits all the right notes. It's shocking to realize what he had accomplished by 1972, and Live in Santa Monica '72 lays it all out : "10:09 "Width Of A Circle"," "John I'm Only Dancing," "Jean Genie," "Moonage Daydream," "Queen Bitch," "Suffragette City" and eleven more in glorious soundboard...Mick Ronson highlights with knife scraping razor guitar leads, woven around hard rhythm attacks and Bowies flash styles...
