"IN" might just be the BEST Lp issued by the Outsiders, who made at least 4 Lp's. So this is their third release titled, "IN" and contains cool garage-punk influenced grooves...

Though the actual 45 version of "I'm Not Tryin' To Hurt You" is more raw & crude, it made for an early selection on the "Pebbles" garage nuggets compilation series ... the LP version, here, is still very good and highly infectious...

Like "Time Won't Let Me", this album is dominated by tracks that were written by the band. The fourth and fifth singles released by "the Outsiders" are included on this album. "Help Me Girl" the great Animals hit, was also the last Top 40 single by "the Outsiders" and would likely have been a bigger hit except that their version of this song had to compete with the Animals version that was released in the same time period. Both sides of the other single taken from this album, "I'll Give You Time To Think It Over" and "I'm Not Trying To Hurt You" were self penned by The Outsiders, as were two additional tracks on the album, "Haunted by Your Love" and "It's Your Love".

Included is apparently the first recording of " Bend Me, Shape Me "; the song was issued on this album more than a year before the song became a U.S. hit for the American Breed and a U.K. hit for Amen Corner. Although never released on 45 by "the Outsiders", the band recorded "Kind Of A Drag." In February 1967 – actually one month after this album was released – " Kind of a Drag " became a Number One hit for the Buckinghams , who are often cited as a band that was heavily influenced by "The Outsiders".

When Steve Winwood was just 19, " Gimme Some Lovin' " became a major hit for the Spencer Davis Group (UK #2; US #7) following its release in November 1966; continuing the pattern of "lost chances", The Outsiders version was released just two months later.
