PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING:
Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. Rare ~ 1967 *STEREOPHONIC SONG MIXES* ORIGINAL ~
SOLID Collection copy!
... 1967 first pressing
of one of the truly GREAT Hollies albums, when they were at their
*peak* of creativity in stunning STEREO format which kicks in the crafty song seperation, different from the mono release ...
1967's Hollies' take on psychedelia, though less kaleidoscopic than that of the Beatles and the Stones, was every bit as riveting. And nobody could touch the Manchester duo of Allan Clarke and Graham Nash when it came to those goose-pimply harmonies. "King Midas In Reverse" proved the crowning achievement -- an all-stops-pulled, hip pocket, rainbow-symphony that will live forever...
Brilliant as many of the songs are, it's easy to see/hear by the vast diversity in styles that this was a band clearly divided about it's future direction. There are flowingly smooth poprock melodies that put the Hollies on the map like "Away, Away, Away" and "Step Inside" mixed with heavy, drug-laced psychedelic grooves like "Maker" and "Try It." The arrangements are nearly as complex as "Sgt. Pepper" or "Pet Sounds" with many unexpected moves within the lavish arrangements. One of he best is "Butterfly" with its complete "Days of Future Passed"-style arrangement. "Maker" takes on George Harrison's Indian Raga-Rock and actually beats it ! The album shows Graham Nash trying to get to the front of the group. 7 of the songs are clearly his with his lead vocal. Overall, the album is a tremendous creative output. Perhaps the Hollies can't hold up to the Beatles, but this album holds up to the best of the style.
