Leon Russell released his self-titled debut "Leon Russell" in March 1970 on Shelter Records which he co-owned with producer Denny Cordell. It includes the hits "A Song For You," "Roll Away The Stone," and "Delta Lady." Special guests include Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, Ringo Starr, George Harrison, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, Steve Winwood, and Delaney & Bonnie Bramlett, and many others.
This copy of (SW-8901) is from an early 1970 repressing that is in excellent condition for a record that is over 50-years-old. Shelter adopted a version of the Superman symbol as its initial logo for the label until the DC Universe had its lawyers attack. The result was a quick reissue of the album with a black bar over the logo on both the cover and disc labels. The cover is solid with only slight wear and is easily VG+. Please see the pictures. The disc test plays cleanly and is also VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. It was engineered by Glyn Johns and this copy was pressed at the Capitol Records plant in Los Angeles. The Side One dead wax is etched SHE-8901-2571-F-1 1 ✲ SPdE-1.

This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 51 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
