ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This superb and rare LP from Angel · EMI (R134674, US pressing, red/white Angel label, DDD stereo) features the wonderful Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg in magnificent accounts of Brahms’s Violin Sonata No. 2 in A Major Op. 100 and Franck’s Violin Sonata in A Major, both recorded with the splendid pianist Cecile Licad at the Sommer Center for the Performing Arts, Concordia College, Bronxville, New York, on 6/7 July 1988.

This album was produced by Patti Laursen and engineered by John Newton and Robert Norbeg. The striking cover photo of Salerno-Sonnenberg and Cecile Licad was taken by Christian Steiner. There are excellent liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket by M.A. Feldman, printed in English only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD.. There is a slight bend/crease to the lower-left corner, bumping/wear at the other corners, slight instances of creasing, and mild ringwear and discoloration to the rear panel. However, there are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, this rates as a very good collector’s copy.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Although surfaces are not absolutely silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT), really this is a very fine copy and playback is truly superb. However, if you must have absolutely perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a very fine collector's copy.
