ELMORE JAMES / JOHN BRIM - " TOUGH ", Blue Horizon (7-63204) Mono, 1968.
Extremely rare, UK very first pressing LP of the classic LP on Blue Horizon featuring previously unissued recordings by the two American Bluesmen.
The front laminated sleeve, matte finish light blue label and matrix numbers ending in A1 and B1 mark this out as the very first pressing.
Matrix numbers
SIDE A = 7-63204 A1
SIDE B = 7-63204 B1
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and put in a
new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner has been retained for originality- see photo)
CONDITION:
VINYL = V.G. (No deep scratches, excessive surface
noise, distortion, etc. Pretty clean labels with just light spindle
trails - see photos. In any light, but especially under a strong direct light, this LP carries quite a few light superficial surface marks. Surprisingly, this LP actually plays a bit better than it's appearance suggests it will - typical of well pressed 60s vinyl with it's lovely deep grooves!
Generally the sound quality of the music itself is very good and strong, it's certainly not suffering distortion or muffling that you would associate with over playing, which correlates with the fairly clean labels. Saying that, as this record plays out it can't completely avoid it's cosmetic imperfections, there is some faint surface noise audible in some quieter and silent sections as the record plays out. No loud thunks, skips or other imperfections that would completely write this LP off though.
Ceratinly a record with it's flaws, but to my mind these mostly cosmetic imperfections definitely do not completely ruin the listening experience and as long as you're expecting a a 60s record that's lived a little and not some sterile CD reissue, it's still a decent playable copy of a very rare original LP.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I
have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is
quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee
exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE
= V.G.+ (No rips, no tears, no defacing, or heavy ring wear, seam splits, etc. But does suffer some small creases in the laminate, some very light wear to the edges and corners, also the rear has alittle bit of light foxing along the top edge and a sticker from the original vendor which I'm counting as part of the record's history, rather than a defect -
see photos for further
clarification)

worth to you and place you max bid accordingly. Please also feel free to

have made in the past.
