"IN SPITE OF ALL THE DANGER" (Paul McCartney / George Harrison, 1958, Recorded By The Quarrymen)
In spite of all the danger,
In spite of all that may be,
I'll do anything for you,
Anything you want me to,
If you'll be true to me.
In spite of all the heartache,
That you may cause me,
I'll do anything for you,
Anything you want me to,
If you'll be true to me.
I'll look after you,
Like I've never done before.
I'll keep all the others,
From knocking at your door.
In spite of all the danger,
In spite of all that may be,
I'll do anything for you,
Anything you want me to,
If you'll be true to me.
In spite of all the heartache,
That you may cause me,
I'll do anything for you,
Anything you want me to,
If you'll be true to me.
I'll do anything for you,
Anything you want me to,
If you'll be true to me .
What perfect timing to list a genuine very first UK pressing of "Anthology 1," so unique, I doubt if another exists anywhere in
Britain or the whole world. I do not make sweeping statements unless I am personally truly amazed by such exclusivity as this.
Ebay is full of "Anthology" vinyl editions, many sellers not clearly stating they are not the EMI /Apple 1990's first pressings,
mastered in Abbey Road directly from Master Tapes, pressed in EMI's present with UK printed labels, covers and inner sleeves.
They are made in unspecified East European countries from unspecified sources, how refreshing to list this truly amazing and
ultimate example of exactly how it was first bought in October, 1995 from a British record shop. "Anthology 1" was very rare
factory sealed, not that "Volume 2" & Volume 3" are not exactly easily available in shrink wrapping, let alone factory sealed,
but "Anthology 1"was always a major rarity. This has the original yellow, red & black 'Virgin' price and logo sticker, stuck
onto another large green & yellow oblong sticker, the top yellow was for sticking the price onto, the bottom green half has this
printed in yellow;
TRULY
GIFTED
Obviously with Christmas presents in mind with the count down started in late 1995, it was cleverly worded to suggest buying
just about any item sold in Virgin's Megastore, a new major Beatles project was custom made and it was indeed successful.
On top of the large sticker was Virgin's logo, a possible day of purchaser and price standard yellow, red & black sticker with;
I 51195
VIRGIN
£19.99
Regarding the digits above 'VIRGIN', it was very strong contender for the date of purchase, the album was issued 20th October and
vinyl was being phased out in 1995. '51195' could have made the day of purchase, 5th November, 1995, only 16 days after the
20th October, release date and make the 'Truly Gifted' sticker perfectly valid for those shopping early for Christmas presents.
We are not finished yet, on purchase the album was placed inside a 'Virgin Megastore' large plastic carrier, one side has a deep
red colour with the 'Virgin' part of the full store logo and title, printed in large white letters. The reverse side is a really
striking yellow colour with the middle section printed in block black to complete the registered trademark, in full;
FRONT OF THE CARRIER BAG: 'VIRGIN'
BACK OF THE CARRIER BAG: 'MEGASTORE'
The bottom rim has standard warning about plastic being potentially dangerous to small children. I draw the line at grading a
functional item after it fulfilled the purpose it was designed to carry. The actual item inside is where the attention falls, but
rare still existing mailers and shop bags are always shown in clear pictures with all edges shown, not 'conveniently cropped or
partially covered. Historically this ''Virgin' carrier bag and the UK first pressing of "The Beatles - Anthology Volume 1" have
been together from day one and you can see by the top fold below the handles, the factory sealed "Anthology Volume 1' does
not require grading either, it was never removed from the bag and remained safely inside for every day of the last 21 years.
My theory about the large 'Truly Gifted' sticker being applied to encourage buy the album as a Christmas present, then the dated
and priced Virgin sticker being applied on the top half, does fit because they are on the outside of the sealed shrink wrapping.
THE BEATLES: "Anthology Volume 1" UK TRIPLE ALBUM, ISSUED 20th OCTOBER,1995, STILL SEALED IN INSIDE
VERY RARE FACTORY APPLIED SHRINK WRAPPING. WHAT AMAZING IRREFUTABLE PROOF OF THIS BEING AN
AUTHENTIC UK FIRST ISSUE. MASTERED AT ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS, PRESSED AT HAYES, MIDDLESEX, ENGLAND.
For the last 21 years, no end of East Europe unofficially sanctioned or licensed "Anthology" counterfeit copies have flooded the
internet, record shops and record fairs. For the UK & USA, EMI & Capitol genuine first pressings it has become imperative to
identify the genuine rare first pressings because they were STRICTLY LIMITED PRESSINGS. Most USA original's were factory
shrink wrapped but only a small proportion of UK first pressings were shrink wrapped, for opened USA genuine first pressings
and the mostly unsealed UK records, the run-out grooves have exclusive mastering / maitrix indexing. As the UK genuine first
pressings were mastered in Abbey Road Studios and pressed by EMI at their Middlesex pressing plant, the maitrix is among the
world's most distinctive, as found on all UK Beatles & solo UK records in the same format, first seen in late 1982.
With so many copies or downright counterfeit pressings, the easily identification of authentic UK & USA vinyl "Anthology",
especially for sealed copies, you only can be 100% certain when the covers have original "Anthology" stickers on Volumes 2 & 3.
UK first pressings of "Anthology 1" did NOT have stickers on the cover, as so few were shrink wrapped, examining the actual cover
and records with the very distinctive EMI machine stamped maitrix, easily identifies unique features no later pressings ever had.
That very much includes the latest wave of "Anthology 1" currently being sold on ebay...... sealed with shrink wrapping.
Authentic cover stickers were stuck directly onto the front of USA Capitol Records and UK EMI first pressings, even the position
was unique to which side of the Atlantic Ocean they originated from;
"Anthology" USA Stickers - Front far right, approximately a third of the way down.
"Anthology"UK Stickers - Front, top left corner, literally in the corner.
Recently made copies currently for sale on ebay, are of unspecified and unknown origin, NOT from the original Master Tapes, all
the material is most likely taken from poorly transferred standard CD's. Covers will appear to be original on a screen because
they were photo copied from original's, becoming the most important of all for sealed first pressings versus counterfeit copies.
Once you have moved past the original USA & UK vinyl first pressings, you are into the unknown, even worse still, currently sold
copies have been sealed in shrink wrapping, preventing checking the run-out grooves for authentication. The genuine sealed first
first pressings will hopefully still have the original record shop stickers unremoved. For example, this album has two UK record
shop 'Virgin' price and Promo stickers, the larger sticker is so unique nobody could possibly fake such a one-off sticker that
coincided with the release of the first "Anthology" series. Then the actual Virgin Megastore red & yellow plastic carrier this
authentic "Beatles Anthology Volume 1" was first placed into inside a British record store, on purchase in October, 1995 ...and
kept inside for the last 21 years. Along with an original first edition only "Anthology" sticker that will always be underneath
the shrink wrapping because they predated the shrink wrapping. I will give comprehensive descriptive details of this
cover below, plus a full range of close up pictures, a sealed UK first pressing is very rare and this is the perfect example with
priceless extra and exclusive authentication, here is how to identify first UK pressings without such idealistic detailed items.
priceless
The overwhelming majority of UK first editions without shrink wrapping, will of course have "Anthology" stickers on the cover.
So few vinyl pressings were made, the stickers were stuck on by hand and the actual angles differ from cover to cover, creating
the same individuality of every single USA & UK "Anthology 2" &"Anthology 3", found on the 1960's earliest Beatles records.

My first thoughts are to pose a question, "What was more important, having nine records or six CD's of "The Beatles Anthology," or
this amazing once in a lifetime project, re-uniting Paul, George, Ringo and Yoko representing John?" That cannot be answered
because there would not have been one without the other, the scars from the Beatles breaking up in 1970 had never really healed
and the shocking murder of John in 1980 had left Paul without the opportunity of a personal reconciliation. I had never admired
Paul McCartney more than when the media descended on him in a state of shock and grief, directly after that terrible news broke,
he was asked intrusive questions outside his home about his reactions to the loss, most would turned away from. Unflinching but
struggling to keep his emotions under control, with all the cameras pointed at him, Paul's answered with an openness and honesty
that was humbling to see and hear. The seeds for "Anthology" were sown that day and even though it took five years to complete,
the 1990's decade was when EMI's master tapes were thrown wide open and Paul, George, Ringo and Yoko were now ready to
unlock the past. What was found was staggering, but even more so, during the 80's Yoko's custodianship of John Lennon's private
tapes had been exceptional, she oversaw the release of two stunning 'new' John Lennon albums, now she gave John's demo's of the
songs he had been recording during his self imposed 'exile' from the music business. As all fellow fanatical bootleg collector's had
assembled and heard, the John Lennon songwriting genius had burnt as brightly as ever, for the first time in 25 years one of those
fantastic piano demo's had Paul, George & Ringo recording the 'missing Beatles' instruments and vocal harmonies, "Free As A Bird"
was released as a Beatles single on Apple. The 'impossible' had happened and the world once again heard something so beautiful,
the last 25 years were peeled back like a 'glass onion,' at almost the same time the first volume of three triple vinyl albums and
double CD's continued that insight into the 'glass onion.' Even for fanatical collector's of unofficial material, previously unheard
demo's, rehearsals, complete songs and unbelievable studio out-takes were made available in Master Tape sound quality, it really
was 'all to much!' A whole series of 'Beatles Anthology' was broadcast on TV in 1995 and the archive films left you in a state of
wonder, then that Christmas the complete series in a video box set felt surreal after the decades of collecting similar material on
barely watchable video's. Fellow traders will remember how precious even the worst quality pictures were, records, CD's, video's
and even a huge 'Anthology' book re-awakened a sleeping giant globally, in the 1960's the Beatles were the greatest band on the
planet, in the mid-1990's they re-claimed their throne and John Lennon's lead vocals once again were heard from a latest Beatles
single. A few days ago I was describing a first pressing of their "Love Me Do" debut single, I really cannot be let loose on this
triple album of previously unreleased material! I intend a very short accompanying description to the track listing above, I have
a massive collection of unofficial Beatles recordings and as a sealed album anyway, even If I did play the records I could not even
begin to detail so many Beatles rarities over six sides for an ebay listing.
Interestingly my Anthology video box set that cost me over £100 at the time, soon became valueless and useless in the wake of
the digital DVD box set release at half that extortionate video price. Like those those who also bought all three vinyl editions
of the triple set, the CD's never made them redundant and on the contrary, the Beatles Anthology was responsible for beginning a
revival and a love of vinyl, to the extent we are currently still feeling. Records were how we heard the Beatles music as it was
freshly written and recorded and in 2016, nothing has changed and even with downloading music becoming a way of life, there
are now vinyl pressings made of most new releases. The next major date was March 1996, " Anthology Volume 2" was released
and from 1965 to 1967, we experienced the psychedelic era all over again via amazing out-takes, but even more amazing was a
second 'new Beatles' single, with another Lennon piano demo "Real Love" receiving the full Beatles treatment and the melody was
even more 'Beatlish', the video was just superb and "Real Love" was included on the "Volume 2" set.
Then the final installment, "Anthology 3" was issued on the 28th October,1996, with rehearsals, out-takes and demo's from the
"The White Album," plus for "Abbey Road" and "Let It Be." Originally plans were made for a third Beatles single to be created
from another John Lennon demo masterpiece of a song, "Now And Then," but it was abandoned.... apparently, but work did begin,
so come on Apple, let's hear how far Paul, George and Ringo got! Alternately you can find John's original demo on a bootleg, what
a fantastic song that is, a little low on hi-fi properties but a glorious melody,I would love to hear Paul and George harmonising
with John's basic recording.
The UK pressing and printing was shrink wrapped but only some of the very first copies and you had to be quick! The majority were
sold without being sealed and although the USA versions were released simultaneously, American copies are far more likely to be
found in sealed shrink wrapping. The stunning condition of this tells of perfect storage over the last 18 years, without even any
scuffs or splits in the shrink wrapping, it has the cleanness and feel of just being bought. I included close up picture of both the
spine's catalogue number and the bar code, the bar code contains the exclusive details unique to the first UK pressings. I have
commented about the dubious amount of limited original vinyl from the late 1980's, 1990's and 2000 Beatles titles claiming to be
'UK pressings'. For other title listings from the last 21 years or so when CD sales far outnumbered vinyl editions, I have given
the same precise details for the genuine items, which this most certainly is!

R & M RECORDS.
My lifetime's love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960's decade
in general had a very profound effect. It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl
into becoming a professional record seller. Nearly thirty years ago we entered into the wonderful atmosphere
of record fairs with the highest possible standards set. When the Internet became the world's new market place for
vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay. Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be,
the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly
and very efficient service we are proud to provide;
EVERY RECORD IS FULLY PLAYED AND COMES WITH A 'NO ARGUMENT' MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.
I USE GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE AS WELL AS A GLOBALLY ACCEPTED GRADING TERMINOLOGY
FROM THE U.K. "RECORD COLLECTOR PRICE GUIDE" BOOK.
THERE IT CLEARLY STATES "Sound Quality" AFFECTS EVERY GRADING LEVEL AND THAT IS THE ONE
AND ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO ACCURATELY GRADE RECORDS. i.e. COMBINING A STRICT VISUAL
INSPECTION WITH VERY CLOSELY LISTENING TO EVERY SECOND, UNLESS PERHAPS IN THE CASE
OF GENUINELY UNPLAYED VINYL. EVEN THEN WE STILL TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR A RECORD
WHEN A CUSTOMER RECEIVES EITHER A SEALED OR AN UNPLAYED RECORD.
We take 100% responsibility after an item has been posted and offer our fullest support in the event of any problems.
"There Are No Problems, Only Solutions" (John Lennon)

UNDER PAYPAL & EBAY'S GUIDELINES, ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA A FULLY INSURED TRACKABLE

We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office's new price increases, regretfully we
will have to increase the cost of LP's, however, singles will remain unchanged. Ebay were aware of that happening and have
increased their minimum postal cost for LP's to £7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become
our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of £46. A temporary reduction this week means we can
now post LP's for £5, but who knows how long before the Post Office return to £7?
For LP's valued above £46, the cost will be £9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant
in 13 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future.
IN THE UK RECORDS UP TO THE VALUE OF £46 WILL BE SENT RECORDED DELIVERY, OVER £46 WILL BE
SENT SPECIAL DELIVERY.
