THELONIOUS MONK “Genius of Modern Music, Vol 1” RVG, P, Blue Note BLP 1510 Mono Vinyl This is the 1964, first edition, “RVG” etched, Deep Groove, “P” pressing of THELONIOUS MONK’s “Genius of Modern Music, Vol 1” on the "Lexington Ave/47 West 63rd” labels of Blue Note BLP 1510.  Musicians include Thelonious Monk – piano, Art Blakey – drums, Idrees Sulieman - trumpet (tracks 1 - 6), Danny Quebec West - alto saxophone (tracks 1 - 6), Billy Smith - tenor saxophone (tracks 1 - 6), Gene Ramey - bass (tracks 1 - 16). George Taitt - trumpet (tracks 17 - 21), Sahib Shihab - alto saxophone (tracks 17 - 21), Bob Paige - bass (tracks 17 - 21). VINYL plays generally very well with some pops and ticks, some repeating.  Surface largely quiet. Ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong. No skips. Good gloss. Numerous hairline marks, none feelable.  (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The Deep Groove “Lexington Ave/47 West 63rd" labels are clean, spindle marks. See photos. COVER is in good shape. Corners worn. Spine and seams taped end to end. Solid inking. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 47 West 63rd St., New York 23” back jacket shows wear, largely clean. Please see photos.       This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER. Record photographed before final clear rinse/dry.
