Enrico Caruso: Cielo e Mar; recorded on November 30, 1902. Gramophone matrix 2874b.Wear to label at ten o’clock position, as pictured. Residue from price sticker farther in, at about the same position. Bubbling to shellac in outside dead wax. Unsure if pressing defect. Light rubs.
Otherwise, label and lettering are nice and bright!
Plays V++/E- Most of the
recording is remarkably quiet and free from surface noise beyond a low hiss.
The first half has a bit of occasional blasting and two or three brief areas of
slightly greater surface noise.
