HAIRBAND - BAND ON THE WAGON

(Alex Harvey before the "Sensational Alex Harvey Band")

Long deleted 1960's UK 1st press rock rarity, with glossy sparingly played vinyl direct from the legendary BBC Gramophone Library record archive

Year/Label : 1969 UK BELL Label number : SBLL 123 Matrix numbers : SBLL 123 A - 1 G, SBLL 123 B - 2 G  Stampers :  1 R  /  1 R
Excellent (EX) condition vinyl -  nice jet black sheen and completely flat - virtually unmarked with just a couple of very small and very light scuff marks on each side and some occasional mild "dulling" or shadowing on side 1, caused by a reaction between the vinyl and poly sleeve but not impinging upon the truly excellent stereo sound quality at all. There are also just a couple of small light hairlines on the side 1 dead wax area. For these reasons I would grade the condition of the side 1 vinyl as VG+ and side 2 as EX+, so EX overall is a fair assessment.  Excellent plus (EX+) condition labels - unmarked with not even the usual one or two light spindle trails. Each label has the BBC stamp (see photo) which, for me, is the official mark of 1960/70's authenticity and only adds to the collectability of these prized LP's.  I find it difficult to grade the condition of the original Garrod & Lofthouse front-side laminated outer sleeve and I do urge you to look at my photos carefully. All edges are firm and unscuffed and the cover remains in a highly presentable state. It has two hole punches towards the spine (which itself remains rigid with all spine text remaining perfectly intact) to which a further "loose" polythene sleeve has been attached with a 9.5cm x 20cm sticker attached to the outside of this polythene sleeve on the front side and two further stickers on the reverse side. There are also two further stickers affixed to the front-side original laminate and another sticker on the unlaminated reverse side. With care all of these stickers are removeable (though the sticker on the original unlaminated reverse side would be difficult). My view is why would anybody want to remove any of these stickers? For me they form an intrinsic component in the rich 55 year old story on the origins and journey of this LP, which undoubtedly includes the handling of this record by BBC disc jockey luminaries such as John Peel, Johnnie Walker, and Annie Nightingale to name but three. What a conversation piece! This LP was once part of what is generally agreed to have been the greatest record collection on earth - these stickers authenticate and rubber stamp that, and for that reason I for one would never want to remove them!  Excellent plus (EX+) stereo audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, clicks, distortion, or interference, and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum - very occasional during just a couple of the side 1 intermissions and very, very light...nothing really. Every track makes for great listening. Comes with a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve.    Long deleted, rare, and a welcome addition to any serious rock vinyl collection.
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £4 using Royal Mail tracked 48;

for continental Europe £11 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £18 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
