Jimi's first U.S. hit Purple Haze is featured with its original flip side, as issued in '67. Jimi always denied the song was about LSD, but his denials didn't keep radio stations from banning it, which undoubtedly hurt its sales and chart position. The Classic Singles Collection Vol. 2 box set uses the original mono mixes of Jimi's classic single for this rare reissue.
This special edition 45 is from the Jimi Hendrix Classic Singles Collection Vol. 2 (2006), and is otherwise unavailable. The 10 colored vinyls from the box set are insanely scarce; only 1000 collectors can ever hope to own this 45. This record was fully authorized by Jimi's family; it's not a fake or repro, and is UNPLAYED MINT. The company that issued the set went out of business in 2010, so there won't be any reissues. These singles are seldom seen for individual sale; good luck finding anybody else offering them outside the limited edition, numbered box set......don't miss it!
