Eric Clapton performed an eighteen night run at The Royal Albert Hall starting in January 1990, the longest running residency at the famed Hall up to that point. These concerts were performed with four different instrumental formations, a Four Piece Quartet, a Blues Band featuring Buddy Guy and Robert Cray, a nine piece band and an orchestra, the last featuring the National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Michael Kamen. He recorded every night with the intention of producing a live album. However, Clapton reportedly was not satisfied with the 1990 concert recordings and therefore delayed the release of the album. Clapton then set a new record by playing a run of twenty-four nights at the Albert Hall between 5 February and 9 March 1991. But It was during that first eighteen night residency in 1990 that this show was recorded and eventually broadcast. Running On Faith, White Room and Sunshine Of Your Love from this concert were ultimately chosen to be used for the commercial release of Eric's live album Eric Clapton - 24 Nights. Those three songs, along with the remainder of this show, were recorded on 24 January 1990. This concert focuses on the Four Piece Quartet band line-up, the members of which are list

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

 

(b)          The album comes with its original 6-page cue sheet insert

 

(c)             The records are pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either (please note that the thickness of the vinyl varies from one disc to another: the thinnest is about 4 on a 10-point scale (really flimsy) and the thickest is about 7 (quite decent).

 

(d)          The records come in their PVC inner sleeve, which have - apparently with success - shielded the records from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

 

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

 

(f)            Important disclosure: VISUALLY, THE RECORDS ARE ALL NEAR MINT TO STRONG NEAR MINT. HOWEVER, WE CAUTION THAT ALL FOUR RECORDS HAVE A SLIGHT WARP – a deviance of about 1-2 degrees from its horizontal axis. THIS HAS ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT ON PLAYING AND IS ONLY A MINOR VISUAL DISTRACTION
