Amazing !!! An unbelievable piece: What we have here is an unheard-of TEST PRESSING of this Soul Goddess' FIRST FULL AND COMPLETE ATLANTIC ANTHOLOGY TO DATE.  While many test pressings often have alternate or demo- versions of known, later released songs, and while it is possible that this particular test pressing contains demo or alternate versions of some of the tracks,  please do not assume  that it does: we simply don't know for sure.

 

PLEASE NOTE: THIS TEST PRESSING APPARENTLY NEVER HAD A CUSTOM COVER;  THE ALBUM WILL BE SHIPPED IN A PLAIN, GENERIC [WHITE] CARDBOARD COVER. TEST PRESSINGS ARE RARELY – IF EVER – FOUND IN CUSTOM (STOCK) COVERS

This is a nice collection from 1976 of Aretha's best stuff (some of it) on Atlantic, the label that was home to her absolute best music.  These songs are all available on any number of collections, but it's nice to spin this one on the turntable.  The Atlantic sessions were truly special with Jerry Wexler producing those fabulous early sessions with The MG's backing up Aretha. You know all the songs, they're timeless.  It's also nice to see the Curtis Mayfield produced "Something He Can Feel" on here.  It's Aretha singing at her sexiest, and Mayfield's arrangement is sweet.  If anyone asks why they call Aretha "the queen of Soul", just put this on, she'll do the rest.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

 

(b)            The record is STILL in its original inner, perforated plastic baggy, which has - apparently with success - shielded the record from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

 

(c)             The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

 

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

 

 

COVER : This reference pressing comes without any custom jacket, and will be shipped in its original plain, generic, white cardboard cover (NOT GRADED SEPARATELY, BUT IN A NICE CONDITION OVERALL)
