Kaleidoscope Rampé Rampé 1984 psych folk world rock EX+

Original US pressing on Edsel

Kaleidoscope (originally the Kaleidoscope) was an American psychedelic folk and ethnic band who recorded 4 albums and several singles for Epic Records between 1966 and 1970. The band membership included David Lindley, who later released numerous solo albums and won additional renown as a multi-instrumentalist session musician, and Chris Darrow who later performed and recorded with a number of groups including the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

AllMusic Review by Stephen Raiteri:

A compilation of the band's longer recordings, none of which were featured on Edsel's other Kaleidoscope collection A Beacon from Mars. All three -- "Beacon from Mars" and "Taxim" from A Beacon from Mars, and "Seven-Ate Sweet" from Incredible Kaleidoscope -- are virtuoso displays. Also included are two other stray tracks, "Greenwood Sidee" (from Beacon) and the Middle Eastern instrumental B-side "Rampe Rampe."

A1         Greenwood Sidee       4:12

A2         Rampé Rampé              3:35

A3         Beacon From Mars     12:35

B1         Taxim 11:20

B2         Seven-Ate Sweet         11:37
