Played by the best musicians of Austria and the Vienna Art Orchestra and many others…
Dear Music Lover,
Analog is still alive. Maybe more then ever, Pro-Ject Audio started designing and manufacturing turntables in 1990 – a time when nobody believed in analog music reproduction anymore. We are strongly convinced that a turntable is the best (and cheapest) choice as a source for a High End music system. People thought we were completely mad, investing in a “dead” technology. Yet time proved that we were on the right way. Analog can reproduce the magic and warmth of music vibrantly and emotionally, still way better than you would expect in the digital age, CD did not satisfy in the same way, and so many music lovers rediscovered analog records.
Nowadays, even companies in the High End digital business proudly announce: “With our new technology we can now, for the first time, come close to the analog reference”. And to go even further: Many music or Hi-Fi magazines are again placing analog products on their front pages.
Today, millions of analog music enthusiasts, several hundreds thousand owners of pro-Ject analog equipment around the word, have proven that the concept of Pro-Ject Audio was right: Analog is the favorite music source for the serious music listener again.
As the next step we are now very proud to present this analog record to you. Music from well respected artists, recorded with the latest in audio recording technology. By chance I learned that the people of Quinton Records, in parallel to their high resolution digital master tapes, had “taped” all their fantastic music in analog format too.
After some short listening it was clear for Pro-Ject that these analog jewels had to be brought to public on vinyl. The music is a blend of popular tunes and virtuosity selected by audiophile criteria.
With deep respect I may say thank you to Heinric Schläfer and Andreas Rathammer who have the spirit to go analog again, too, and helped us create this audiophile reference album.
We wish you a very pleasant time discovering the quality of analog music reproduction.

Producer’s notes
Qinton Records is a record label with the passion and desire to be working with some of the best musicians in the business and aiming for the best possible sound quality. Initially released as CD’s for the global market, the original analog or high resolution master tapes are securely stored in our archives and so we were thrilled by the idea of Heinz Lichtenegger from Pro-Ject Audio to start a series of vinyl re-issues, starting with this sampler.
The ideas behind the Audiophile Spectrum
Like the colors of visible light are just a small part of the spectrum, recorded music can only be representing a small part of the spectrum of all possible waveforms and physical sound pressure. This limitation leads to one vital consequence: The role of the music producer has to be very active one. Musical decisions are equally important as the perfect sound design: Microphones and positioning, recording rooms, but also the use of modern production technology like filtering, compression and the use of digital reverb to capture all the emotion and colors of the music.
We found that the existing chromatic color theories of Johannes Itten, Harald Küppers and the “dimensions of color” hand enormous potential describing our way of achieving the desired sound in the recording studio. Every parameter is represented by a specific color within the chromatic spectrum of visible light, each representing its own unique quality and interacting with each other. The result of opur ideas is what we call the “Audiophile Spectrum”. It is an easy to use yet very descriptive method to visualize music productions, analyzing the various aspects and qualities of any recording you own.
Now go, put a record on and enjoy both, the music and the sound.
