Los Yoyi - Original Cuban pressing - mega rare Psych/Funk Areito LD-3662 Product Description

Los Yoyi - Areito LD-3662. This is the original Cuban pressing of the mega rare Los Yoyi LP. Over the last ten years or so this has become one of the most sought after Cuban records of the 1970's due to its' psych/funk styling. So popular is this record that it was re-issued from the original masters a few years back. Ironically, the recent re-master sounds better sonically than the original but it is nevertheless the original pressing that collectors are looking for.

The labels on this pressing are blue. I have seen the record on green and other colored labels. The way the Cuban record pressing plants would work back then is that they would use whatever labels they had on hand when stamping the record. This was confirmed to me by two separate former employees who worked in the Cuban record industry in the 1970's. There was only one original pressing of this LP but several label colors. Whether you have a blue or green label does not add or lessen the value of the disc. Both blue labels on this disc are free of any marking or writing.

There is no writing on the sleeve but there are creases, some ring wear, a small tear on the bottom right side and one nearby that appears black and some brownish spots in the white area of the left side of the back sleeve. The seams have wear especially the left side seam which has been fixed from the interior. The twelve pictures attached to this listing display clearly the descriptive above.

The actual vinyl was played on an average sound system and there are two small skips and some moderate surface noise on one of the tracks. (However, when played on a second turntable there were no skips). Some surface noise can be heard in quieter moments as well as some light crackling from time to time. There are light surface marks but nothing deep or anything that significantly affects the play.

This is an ideal copy for a collector who wants to upgrade from Fair or Good to VG (Very Good).

No bids will be accepted after the E-Bay auction ends. No partial refunds are offered - only a full refund if you are not satisfied with the return shipping cost at your expense.

Grading: VG/VG

No Cuban records are graded Mint or Near Mint.

All records are strictly graded according to the guidelines of the 2014 Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide. Sleeves are graded first followed by the vinyl.

M = Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deteriation in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Un-played should be Mint.

EX = Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VG = Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

G = Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

F = Fair: The record is still just playable but has been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

P = Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The record and contents will be badly damaged, or partly missing.

B = Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only used as a collection-filler.

Additional Grading:

NM = Near Mint: A record played only a handful of times that looks and plays a notch below Mint.

EX(+) = Excellent Plus: This grade is used when a record looks and plays better than EX but is not at the NM level.

EX(-)= Excellent Minus: The record is obviously better than VG but not quite EX.

The above 3 grades are not part of the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guidebut are commonly used by collectors worldwide. They provide for a more accurate grading.
