PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! MINT - Original first print from 37 years ago with THICK gatefold cover and insert ... long time top flight HEAVY-ROCK guitar led conceptual fit well with the conceptual theme of PIRATE lore!

Drummer Jerry Derome (aka Madjack) and guitarist Jay Wilfong (aka William Bonney) had both been members of the Indiana-based Poverty Programme.  Wilfong had also recorded an album with the band Primvil on the famed 700 West label.  With the addition of bassist Gary Dunn (aka Lord Vendetta),  these guys spent a couple of years touring throughout the mid-West, collected a small but loyal following.

Self-produced, 1979's "Buccaneer" - for a heavy-rock guitar trio, has a surprisingly full sound, managing to avoid most of the metallic sludge that trios tend to generate.  Unlike most trios, they also managed to avoid the requirement to devote a disproportionate amount of time to pointless soloing.   Wilfong has a nice voice; quite accessible and proved a strong and melodic guitarist, while the Dunn-DeRome rhythm section were never less than solid.

So it was in the late 70's when an unknown power rock & roll band came onto the scene in the Midwest. No bio information, names or even album credits were released with their debut self titled, hard rock conceptual album entitled Buccaneer. The band known as Buccaneer had huge success in the Midwest market and their world debut concert at the Indianapolis Convention Center filled the arena for two nights in a row!

The concept of the band and album was based around a pirate theme and a bloody quest for "booty and riches". Buccaneer's virtuoso power rock rhythms and weighty vocals captured in the studio, contained special sound effects and combined with the cloak and dagger mystery caught the attention of their fast growing fan base and brought it all to a fever pitch.

Despite Buccaneer's huge regional success the country and the record industry was mired in a deep recession. During that period some of music's biggest names lost their deals and perhaps during a different time Buccaneer would have achieved its' rightful success on the world stage.

Over the years, word slowly leaked out that Buccaneer was the brainchild of Jay Wilfong aka Dr. Fong, previously involved with the "Baddest Band What Am" :::: Primevil ::: who released that monster collectible on the 700 West label. Wilfong to this day attributes much of the quality and success of the two bands to his long time friend and mentor, Moe Whittemore of 700 West Records. All of the songs on Buccaneer were co-written and recorded by the founding members Jay Wilfong, Gary Dunn and Jerry DeRome.

If you dig 70's power rock the Buccaneer will be a total treat for your ears.
