"HAPPY JACK" the second album by The Who, this is the STEREO release from 1966.
British record company executives at Decca Records released the album under the title A QUICK ONE, which was too sexually suggestive title for the Americans, and due to "Happy Jack" being a top forty hit in the U.S. "Happy Jack" was included on the US version of the album, and NOT on the British version (replaced with "Heat Wave").
"HAPPY JACK" is widely regarded by fans to have been a pivotal album for the group, due to the departure from the R&B / pop formula featured on the band's first release. TheBritish ("A Quick One" title actually came from DECCA RECORDS overly zealous attitude forcing the band to rush and pump out an full album. Hence, A Quick One. Many of the songs are great and some of which are classics, others are less known but still stellar.
Boasting such classics as Entwhistle penned 'Boris The Spider' which is among the groups best. Also 'Whiskey Man' another Entwhistle number, and became a classic. The dual title tracks 'A Quick One While He's Away' and 'Happy Jack' are two of the groups most celebrated tunes. The former being a nine minute epic, and Townsends first epic. The latter being a percussion filled legend fueled by Moon.
Other highlights include the MOD drivers 'See My Way' and 'Cobwebs And Strange' are two of the many great tracks on this album.

The cover: Rated: MINT is solid all over, STILL IN FACTORY CELLOPHANE very collectible and not with ANY wear...So hard to find this 54 year old dark cover without any (no) wear !! This original stereophonic survivor from '66 and IS about as great as any one might hope for in finding a better copy! Harder to find than you may think like this! The seams are strong, no writing, no bends, bright colors ... Collection worthy artifact!
The vinyl: Rated: near M- totally clean and smooth ...looks clean and not scratched. Clean over both sides, highly shiny. Expect minty clean audio over all tracks. .. both (stereophonic) DECCA labels are CLEAN.
A cool addition to anyone's music library!
