Description
Original UK Vertigo large spiral label stereo press LP.
This is the second Legend album released in January 1971. The band had formed in 1968 in Southend and recorded an album for Bell records, using acoustic instruments, but split up soon after its release in 1969. Mickey Jupp decided to carry on with new band members and was signed by Vertigo in 1970. Their second album was an all electric affair and also called Legend, but more commonly known as the 'Red Boot Album'. The album is an eclectic mix of Rock 'n' Roll tracks, which later Pub Rock bands, such as Dr Feelgood, would cover and way ahead of its time in 1970!
This copy has the large Vertigo spiral label and 1Y//3 2Y//4 matrices & 1-1-4 1-2-1 stampers of the 1st pressings (see Discogs).
The Howards Printers matt gatefold sleeve is intact & in VG+ condition, with some corner/edge wear and some light storage rubbing on the front cover, with a small sticker scar on the rear cover. There is some light rubbing on the inner cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the Vertigo spiral inner is intact & in VG+ condition.
The record is in visually VG+ condition, with a few faint & wispy hairlines and a couple of light needle marks and scuffs visible on each side that do not affect play. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of few spindle markings on each side.
The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some very low background noise during the run in grooves, overall a really great, loud & clear listen.
The matrix nos. are; 6360019, 1Y//3 mother stamper 1-1-4, 2Y//4 mother stamper 1-2-1.
This is one of the early copies of the original 1971 UK stereo 1st issue of this album!
