Mit "Clique" knüpft Patricia Barber an ihr bei Fans und Kritikern gleichermaßen beliebtes Album "Nightclub" an, auf dem sie amerikanische Standards präsentiert. Die US-amerikanische Jazzerin, Pianistin und Komponistin hat sich mit ihrer Musik zwischen Poesie, Jazz und Kunstlied unter Audiophilen einen Namen gemacht. "Clique" ist eine erneute Sammlung von Standards, die Barber bislang nur bei Konzerten als Zugabe gespielt hat, darunter Titel von Stevie Wonder, Lee Hazlewood und Thelonious Monk. Begleitet wird sie von ihren langjährigen Weggefährten Patrick Mulcahy (Bass), Jon Deitemyer (Schlagzeug), Neal Alger (Gitarre) und Jim Gailloretto (Saxophon).

Die Aufnahme in DXD verantwortet Grammy-Gewinner Jim Anderson, der auch die Abmischung in den Studios von Skywalker Sound übernahm. Das Mastering verantwortet Bob Ludwig (Gateway Mastering). Fans bezeichen dieses Album als das klanglich beste Patricia Barber Album.

Cut directly from the Bob Ludwig-mastered DXD 352.8/32-bit files by Scott Hull at Masterdisk and supervised by recording/mix engineer Jim Anderson and Ulrike Schwartz, CLIQUE! provides the same aural excitement, incredible detail, and deep resonances of our Grammy-nominated SACD. The Stoughton Printing-produced tip-on gatefold jacket provides a large and spacious canvas for the original design and features UV gloss front and spot-UV interior embellishments, photos, and two essays about the making of the recording.
