Non-UK bidders/buyers - Please scroll down to read the list of countries I am willing to mail to before placing a bid!!   Please also read the listed prices for each group of countries which is at the bottom of this description

The price quoted at the top of this listing is for postage within the UK only - 2nd class signed for with a value of up to £50.  If the record goes for more than this it will cost more to post - see below

Frequently asked questions about postage:

Do you combine postage?  Yes.  I am not a business.  I have decent scales and if someone buys more than one record I pack, weigh and then send the invoice.  If someone buys quite a lot I will take the time to work out the various ways I can combine items to get the lowest postal costs with the correct insurance.

Will you send by standard postage?  No.  I will not post anything unless it has the correct insurance and a signature at point of delivery.   This includes international postage.

Soft Machine 1968 Self Titled 3-D Die Cut Cover Probe

On the Probe Records label  - another one from my own collection which I have owned for over 40 years. It's still in its original inner sleeve with the PAPENTS APPLIED FOR printed in the bottom left corner.  The bag has split at the bottom - approx 10 cms.  I will include the original bag and mail out in one of those master sleeve anti static liners as I feel this LP deserves respect and nurturing.

TRACK LISTING and audio comments

SIDE ONE

The whole side plays great.  There is a little surface noise audible in the quieter parts.  On Track 4 there are some pops and surface noise in the drum solo

2.  Joy Of A Toy
3.  Hope For Happiness (Reprise)
4.  Why Am I So Short?
5.  So Boot If At All
6.  A Certain Kind

 SIDE TWO

The whole of Side Two plays brilliantly with no jumping or sticking.  There is some very faint surface noise here and there and a couple of not very loud clicks.

1. Save Yourself
2.  Priscilla
3.  Lullabye Letter
4.  We Did It Again
5.  Plus Belle Qu'Une Poubelle
 6.  Why Are We Sleeping?
7.  Box 25/4 Lid

STEREO

THE COVER
is in overall very good ++ condition.  There is wear to the corners and the edges - see photos.

The front:
is in very good condition.  There is ring wear at the top and bottom. There is a small areas of damage to the right hand edge of the die cut circle and a little more to one area of the turning part - see photos.  Otherwise I am very surprised it has survived so wel.

The spine:

is in reasonable condition,  easily legible and not squashed but there is wear along the edges.

The back:  is in very good condition. Unfortunately I put an initial sticker in the top right corner. It has fallen off but you can see the shape of it.  There is ringwear top and bottom and a few dents in the middle.

The inside: is in amazingly good condition.  Please note that Kevin Ayers is not from Berne Bay - he is from Herne Bay!!

THE VINYL: is very shiny.  There are some sleeve scuffs and surface scratches on both sides - nothing major, it looks a bit on the rough side but  the audio quality is really good.  Both labels are in excellent condition with no tears, bits missing writing or other nasties, although there is the outline of one of my initial stickers on Side One.  The sticker has fallen off.  There are spindle marks on both sides.

*****

If you live in the Canterbury/Herne Bay area you are welcome to collect or I could possibly deliver to a convenient venue.

POSTAGE:  I do not charge for packing materials, time spent packing or walking/driving to the Post Office!  Ebay are now taking a postage fee of 10% of whatever a seller charges.  (Thanks to all the greedy sellers who were deliberately making money on the postage they were charging buyers.)

This means that the actual postage could be more than quoted at the top of this listing.  The following prices for posting one LP in a mailer with a cardboard stiffener are from the Royal Mail's website.

Value up to £50 – postage is £3.90 for Second Class Signed For

Value between £50 and £500 – postage is £7.15 for Royal Mail Special Delivery by 1 pm

FEEDBACK POLICY:  feedback is the fastest way for me to know if your item(s) have arrived safely and after selling quite a few bits and pieces on Ebay I got a bit fed up with buyers who couldn't be bothered or were just too lazy or ill-mannered to leave me feedback so I now leave feedback only for buyers who leave feedback for me.
