33 1/3 RPM 16" transcription LP from 1931 or there abouts - The Thermoid Rubber Co. presents The Thermoid Brake Doctors - Produced by The Aitkin-Kynett Co. and recorded by Stanley Recording Co - Program No. 10, Part A, Disc No. 3925.
This is a very early transcription record produced for radio broadcasting. This is an inside start record cut on only 1 side and is made of shellac composite not vinyl. I believe this one was played at radio station KOB (KKOB) around 1931 because it came with two other 16" shellac transaction records that are clearly marked for KOB (please see my other auctions). It includes several songs by the Thermoid Brake Doctors as well as the Thermoid commercials. It contains band music by the Thermoid Brake Doctors as well as vocals by Golden Rule Eddie and the Thermoid Brake Doctors with a rapid fire harmony that sounds a lot like the Rhythm Boys - all very 1930s. It ends with a snipit from a young lady who I think is called Miss Thermoid.
It has a very large crack but played surprisingly well on my Rheem Director II transcription phonograph using 78 stylus. It plays at 33 1/3 but is cut at 78 rpm grooves to be played with a wider needle. The ugly crack makes the record looks to be unplayable but it actually plays end to end very well, very slight background noise and the crack pops very lightly, almost unnoticeable until the end. The record weighs nearly 2 1/2 pounds.
An early shellac radio transaction disk is exceptionally rare and this one plays amazingly well. Here is a sample from this record on YouTube for preview:
