THE BEATLES SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND
Issue : UK STEREO 1st PRESS Label : PARLOPHONE Catalogue No : PCS 7027
Matrix : YEX 637-1 / 638-1
This is the UK 1st Press of 'Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band' by The Beatles. The 1st press has the Peter Blake insert and the laminated STEREO Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold sleeve. The vinyl has the 1st press 'Sold In UK' and 'Gramophone Company' label text and the earliest YEX 637-1 // 638-1 matrix.
The vinyl is in VERY GOOD condition. The vinyl has a sensational jet black gloss, the grooves show no sign of heavy play at all. There is one mark on Side One and a few other light wispy marks but the vinyl still has a lovely lightly played sheen. The Parlophone label is exceptionally bold and clean. The yellow is bright, the black is solid and the text is sharp. There is only the very slightest spindle wear.
The sound quality is rich, vibrant and bold. There is occasional light background noise and a click on the mark but it is still clear with EXCELLENT audio sepapration throughout.
It comes complete with the 'Peter Blake' inner in NEAR MINT condition.
The Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold STEREO laminated sleeve is in EXCELLENT+ condition. The laminate has a stunning mirrored shine, the colours are vivid and the whole of the sleeve is completely solid and flat. The only sign of age is the very slightest corner wear and a couple of small laminate creases. The inside gleams like new, the laminate creaks when opened and it is in sensational bright and clean shape. The flipbacks are fully intact and sealed. The spine is very firm with clear text. The back cover is also exceptionally clean and bright. Although not absolutely perfect this is still a stunning sleeve.
