Slade dominated the 1970s with a series - or more accurately, a seemingly neverending deluge - of big hitting, hard edged pop classics. This collection of BBC recordings catches them on the cusp of that goldmine era, turning their hand to cover versions of The Beatles ('Getting Better') and Moody Blues ('Nights In White Satin') and own penned curios like the wonderfully titled 'It's Alright Ma It's Only Witchcraft'. Wall to wall hits it ain't, but a fascinating insight into a band on the verge of utter greatness it most certainly is.
