A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF THIS FIRST TRANSLUCENT 1979 DEBUT ALBUM RELEASE FROM, JOY DIVISION.

FIRST EVER PRESSING "STEP, THIS IS THE WAY/THIS IS THE WAY & A PORKY PRIME CUT" ETCHED ONTO THE RUN-OUT GROOVES.

  Unknown Pleasures is the debut album by the English post-punk band Joy Division. It followed an abandoned session for RCA Records, and was eventually recorded and mixed over three weekends at Strawberry Studios, Stockport in April 1979 with producer Martin Hannett. The album was released on 15th June 1979 on Tony Wilson's Factory Records. Factory did not release any singles from Unknown Pleasures, and although the success of the band's debut single "Transmission", which was not on the album, increased its sales, the album did not chart. However, it has gone on to receive sustained critical acclaim as a pioneering post-punk record. Released on the 15th June 1979 on the Factory Record Label, and recorded between the 1st and 17th April 1979 at Strawberry Studios, Stockport England, and Produced by, Martin Hannett, this rare LP is Black, but when held up to light the LP becomes Red, known as Translucent. The LP comes in it’s original off white, curved corner, card inner sleeve, and is housed in it’s original black textured outer sleeve, and also includes two double sided hand typed lyric sheets, not sure if these typed lyrics sheets originally came with this issue.

 

  Both record labels and both sides of the Translucent Red LP are in Mint Minus condition, when the LP is held up to the light it appears Red, and returns to black under normal daylight (see scans below)

  Additionally etched into the side 1 dead wax is, STEP & A PORKY PRIME CUT, and side 2, THIS IS THE WAY & A PORKY PRIME CUT & Steven J Whittle .

   The LP plays through all tracks without faults.

  The off white, curved corner, card inner sleeve is in superb Excellent condition, no seam splits or tears, with just light LP storage signs and a few light age spots.

 

  The typed (not photo copies) A4 pages with lyrics to each track are in Mint condition.

 

  The outer Black Textured card sleeve in pristine Near Mint condition, with mild LP storage signs, all edges and spine edge are perfect, the front panel shows light shadowing.
