As Marc Bolan continued to chart an upward sales trend into 1971 Fly realised the time had come to reissue Bolan's early work. His first two LP's are/were available on 60's Zonophone, but due to poor sales are very difficult to track down for less than a small fortune. But this double LP reissue from 1972 contains both the original LPs as a joint package. And thankfully Fly did a great job of the mastering/pressing of this title. Matrix 2/2/2/2. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Also included are both original inner sleeves both date coded Sep-1972.
Vinyl (Ex+) In absolutely superb condition and have clearly only seen the lightest of use. Under close inspection we are struggling to make out a mark on any of the sides. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. As this is Marc's early work is particularly acoustic and percussive - only a good quality pressing which has been looked after is going to do it justice. And this is just that copy! It resolves the intricacies of the sound supremely well and with barely any interference. We could only detected a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments [literally]. A beautiful player across all four sides...
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and in far better condition than you usually find it. Front and back are often aged and showing a lot of handling wear. This copy shows almost no ageing at all and the black surface of the rear is not suffering any fading. Edge wear is light and the spine is 100% intact. In the interior only the white sector is suffering a touch of light foxing - that really is the only criticism you can throw at it. A lovely specimen.
