An original 1st mono pressing of Cricklewood Green on the DERAM label from Q1 1970. Matrix 1A/1A. Stampers 1-K/1-I - putting this copy from within the first 5,000 copies ever made. What makes this copy a particularly interesting find is that Mono pressings were discontinued in Q1 1970 - so this effectively was Mono's last stand! Please note label design and colour is consistent with 1st press - The label colour is closer to ochre and is not red. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L gatefold cover with peep hole. Also included is the original red Decca Mono inner sleeve date coded to Feb-1970..[02-70]..that basically is as early as you can possibly find. No poster unfortunately, but in all other respects this is one seriously impressive record.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In fantastic condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. This mono cut really is very very nice - great transparency and detail. Interference is thankfully minimal and infrequent. All we could really detect were a few crackles in the intro to side 1 & 2 - as soon as the guitar kicks in it's just clean audio. We literally could only detect a few crackles [literally] in a few isolated moments. It really is a clean player and more than lets this classic shine. Nice!
Cover (Ex) In great shape and you can only imagine how many of these unlaminated covers surface in shabby condition. This copy looks really really nice. Lovely clean front without creasing ageing or wear. The rear is in equally good form - just a small sticker removal mark in the top left corner. The interior looks very clean too and seems to mostly have avoided the usual ageing process. Edge wear is surprisingly light and even all the text on the spine is legible. Overall the cover retains superb rigidity for what, by now, would often be a beaten up example.
Inner (Ex) No splits, writing, or markings.
