Gentle Giant ~ Debut Same LP. Vertigo UK 6360 020. Originally released 1970.
 
This is stunning copy of Gentle Giant’s debut album on the UK Vertigo swirl label. It comes with it’s original vertigo inner sleeve.
 
Detailed Gradings: -
 
Outer Sleeve: EX+
 
The outer gatefold sleeve is incredibly clean and one of the finest examples I have ever seen.  Please see the photos to appreciate how good this sleeve looks.  The edges and spine are wonderfully preserved and are tight and square. There is a small compression to one corner, i.e. the upper right hand corner of the front cover, which is less noticeable on the back, but is relatively minor even on the front.  The only other point to note is that at some point the record has split the front left edge of the gatefold and whilst this affects a sizeable part of the edge, it is barely noticeable and doesn’t detract much as the edge is sitting very closed and it is hard to see. This has also affected the inner sleeve so please refer to the section below.  Aside from these two points this is perhaps the cleanest, sharpest and most “crisp” copy of this sleeve I’ve seen in many years, it is absolutely stunning!
 
Vinyl: EX+
 
Many would grade as Near Mint, but although I grade conservatively, this is a really super copy with only a very few feint hairlines visible under bright halogen light. There is a beautiful deep black shine to the vinyl, this copy has only been play a few times and displays little signs of use. Fantastic copy by any standards.

Labels: Near Mint ~ Clean, and with no significant marks. Under a bright light a few light spindle lines can be seen. There is still some excess vinyl “shavings” visible at the centre hole on the B side. Clearly has not been played many times.
 
Inner Sleeve: EX : The original Vertigo sleeve is graded as EX.  As noted above it has a split to one edge where the record has burst the seam at some point in the past. Apart from this it is undamaged and shows little signs of wear.
 
Overall this a really clean copy of this Vertigo rarity.  It would be hard to find such a crisp and clean copy again.
 
Postage and Packing:
 
All records are been placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping.  Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s. These mailers are a high grade type which re-inforce the edges around the LP and as such they are larger and weigh more than standard mailers.  My postage costs reflect the additional size and weight of the packaging that I use. Despite using high quality packing materials, I only charge the actual costs of postage.
