Description: This item is a privately recorded Presto aluminum base acetate disc that was probably professionally recorded based on the excellent sound quality. The selections are from 2 different Eddie Condon Floor Show television programs during 1949.
The first group consists of Bobby Hackett (cnt), Teddy Wilson (pno), Jack Lesberg (bs) and unidentified drummer. The program date is listed as 22 January 1949. The quartet renders "Singin' the Blues" in a tribute to the legendary Bix Beiderbecke.
The flip side has an all star group that consists of Bobby Hackett (cnt), Ernie Caceres (clt), Cutty Cutshall (tbn), Dick Cary (pno), Jack Lesberg (bs) and J. C. Heard at the drums. The program date is listed as 16 April 1949 and they play "Fascinating Rhythm" which is immediately followed by a short version of "I've Got a Crush on You" with vocal by Helen Ward.
To the best of my knowledge and after checking various discographies, the Hackett - Wilson performance of "Singin' the Blues" has never been issued on record.
Disc Condition: The disc is in E- / VG++ condition with a few surface scuffs and a few light scratches but the disc is a clean player and in Excellent sound quality. The "Fascinating Rhythm" side has a small acetate tear on the rim that is not into the grooves. This is a tight tear and does not look like it will spread. As you can see in the photos, the labels with the tune titles and dates typewritten have some defects and the "Fascinating Rhythm" side label is coming unglued. Also, the green sleeve has a label with the same tune and date info.
