Description: This item is a privately recorded Presto aluminum base acetate disc that was probably professionally recorded based on the excellent sound quality.
The first side is taken from an Eddie Condon Floor Show television program from 26 March 1949. The all star band consists of Bobby Hackett (cnt), Peanuts Hucko (clt), Cutty Cutshall (tbn), Dick Cary (pno), Jack Lesberg (bs) and the great Buddy Rich at the drums. They play a rousing version of "Thou Swell" which has a full chorus drum solo by Buddy Rich.
The flip side features Bobby Hackett on the song "When a Woman Loves a Man". While not indicated on the label or sleeve, I can positively identify that this version is from Hackett's World Transcription recording session of December 1943.
To the best of my knowledge and after checking various discographies, this rendition of "Thou Swell"  has never been issued on record.
Disc Condition: The disc in VG++ to E- condition with a few surface scuffs and a few light scratches but the disc is a clean player and in Excellent sound quality. There is no peeling or flaking of the acetate. As you can see in the photos, the custom labels have the tune titles and dates typewritten. The "Thou Swell" label has tears and has come unglued. Also, the green sleeve has a label with the same tune and date info.
