A Day At The Races 1U/1U

This first pressing plays with stunning quality and the vinyl is visually stunning.  I purchased this from the same owner as the 'Sheer Heart Attack' album I am selling.  He confirmed they were hardly played and always very carefully looked after and judging by the immaculate audio here I can confirm that.

   Visual grading

This is visually stunning, a real beauty!  At first glance it looks 'as new' and it retains a fantastic glossy sheen.  I have looked under various lights and I cannot detect any hairlines let alone any scratches.  This is a final upgrade archive first pressing the likes of which are very rarely seen.  There is barely any spindle wear and the run out grooves are also spotlessly clean.

Play grading

There is light static only on the 'Tie Tour Mother Down' intro and it then plays with incredible power and clarity and no distortion at all.  This is superb and rarely have I heard this track play so well.  The intro on 'You Take My Breath Away' is very impressive and plays with no intrusive 'background' a rarity as it often has some interference being such a quiet track.  The remainder plays with stunning clarity and is easily one of the 'cleanest' versions I have heard in a long time.  There are no clicks or pops and only a hint of mega light static here and there.  A fantastic version considering this is a first 1U/1U pressing.  'Long Away' is practically Mint- aside from a miniscule amount of light static towards the end.  'The Millionaire Waltz' has so many quiet sections and yet they all play with stunning clarity here.  The intro is 'as new' and this classic continues in the same way and is Near Mint without a doubt and many sections better than that.  The depth and power is so impressive and there is no real 'background'.  The mega quiet 'My fine friend...' section is near immaculate with only one faint 'tick'.  I cannot stress enough how well track plays, absolutely superb!  'You & I' ends S1 with superlative audio once more and no interference and the fade out plays with perfect precision also.

'Somebody To Love' from the very first groove plays with great clarity and wonderful definition throughout.  The depth of the sound here again is stunning and even the 'Find me somebody to love...' section plays with 'high end' quality.  The remainder of this classic plays with superb sound also.  The quiet intro on 'White Man' is so good and has barely any static which is rare.  The rest of the track is breathtaking and plays with immense power and volume.  Definitely the best version I have heard on a 1U/1U first press for many a year.  It is absolutely stunning!  The super quiet end section plays very clearly with no 'background' at all.  Mind-blowingly good!  'Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy' is Mint it needs no other description.  'Drowse' is also of the same standard I am pleased to report.  The spoken fade out has no 'background' at all.  The sonic quality is first class and both of these tracks play 'as new'.  The intro on 'Let Us Cling Together' is spectacular and I heard only a couple of barely audible dust ticks.  The more I listen to this the more I am blown away by the quality here.  It is so rare for this track to play with such incredible clarity and especially so on a first 1U/1U press.  If you want to hear this classic with Mint audio then this is the one to own!  The clarity and definition on every groove is of the highest standard possible.  So often the final section plays with distortion but that is not the case here.  A stunning end and even the extended fade out plays in sublime style with only a small number of mega light dust ticks.

In summary this is another final upgrade archive first pressing.  This album in particular is becoming increasingly difficult to find with audio as clear and impressive as this.  There is no intrusive interference to be heard and the vast majority quite simply plays 'as new'.

The Gatefold

Notoriously found in poor condition this one does not have too much shelf wear.  The edges and wide spine have a few small rub marks and there is a little corner wear but by no means an excessive amount.  The opening edge has no handling wear at all.  The front cover is very clean overall with only a little fading around the edges and a small crease bottom left.  The back cover is similar with some spotting also running down the spine area.  The inside of the gatefold is in great condition with only a little spotting mainly on the top edge.  Not perfect but infinitely cleaner than many you see today.

This is near perfect with only one tiny area one side that is wearing thin - it is not a split!

The labels

They are in pristine condition with no marking or writing and a couple of very small faint spindle trails on each side.
