This very collectable double album is 'as new' with no interference of any kind.  The previous owner said that he had never played it and I have no reason to doubt that having now played every track in full myself.  There is still some vinyl 'flecking' on the first record around the spindle hole!  The clarity, depth and power of the audio across all four sides is sensational and I certainly have never heard better, it is a FINAL UPGRADE archive classic in every way.  The heavyweight vinyls are visually stunning and obviously have no spindle wear.

The gatefold cover is in pristine condition with no shelf wear at all, it is STUNNING!  The first picture inner is perfect and the second has just one minor edge rub.

Visual description

The heavyweight vinyls are in lovely and still have an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen and no scratches.  Under a bright light I can only detect a small number of very faint sleeve removal hairlines which is a common feature due to the coarse material of the card inners.  Some faint 'specks' also which can only be seen at a certain angle - these are purely superficial of course and are again commonly seen on this pressing.  I only mention them to be 'complete' with my grading, they are very faint indeed and have no affect on the superb audio.  The labels are super clean, they are unmarked and have no spindle wear.

Play grading

S1 plays with stunning precision from start to finish and the clarity, power and depth of the audio is second to none.  'We Will Rock You' starts things off with impeccable sonic quality and that applies to the entire side.  The other tracks 'Tie Your Mother Down', 'I Want It All', 'Seven Seas Of Rhye' and the 1997 'Rocks' Retake of 'I Can't Live With You' all play with incredible clarity with not even a dust tick to be heard let alone anything more.  All tracks grade as Mint without a doubt.
'Hammer To Fall' on S2 is faultless and this version of 'Stone Cold Crazy' must be one of the finest I have ever listened to.  The depth and power of the audio really stand out, absolutely STUNNING!  I have played the other tracks in full, no need to list them all, and I can confirm they all play to the same high end standard with literally no intrusion.  This side also grades as Mint such is the quality.

'Tear It Up' on S3 again plays with tremendous power and clarity and then the long intro on 'One Vision' again demonstrates how well this album has been preserved - there is no background at all, just a couple of barely audible dust ticks.  The remainder of the track is also 'as new' and 'Sheer Heart Attack' and 'I'm In Love With My Car' are equal to that.  All grade as Mint
'Put Out The Fire' plays with stunning power and resonance and sounds better than any Hot Space version.  The benefits of heavyweight vinyl!  'Headlong' is 'as new' and the classic 'It's Late' more than keeps up the standard.  It does of course have some quiet sections and yet they all play with sublime clarity and no intrusion.  'No-One But You' ends the album with suitably impressive audio and... no interference.  Another Mint side in every way.
In summary this first pressing plays to a wonderful standard with no interference.  No guessing the audio quality here!  The sonic quality is as strong as it would have been back in '97 and as stated I have no reason to doubt that it has ever been played before prior to my play-testing.  The clarity, power and definition of the audio could not be beaten.  This is a FINAL UPGRADE archive version and with a perfect cover to match.
The Gatefold & Picture Inners
The glossy cover is in beautiful condition and still has its original shape and structure so clearly has hardly ever been handled.  In essence there is no wear - the edges and wide spine are perfect and rarely the corners have no wear either.  The front cover is pristine and still has the original sticker top left.  The back cover is just as clean and the inside of the gatefold is immaculate with no marking.  A superb 'as new' example.
The first picture inner is perfect and the second has just one small rub on the right edge.

The records have been cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
