The rarest `Green Spine` lighter Brown 1st version

Its reported that less than 1000 of these were ever made and mainly passed to some journalists record stores managers and radio presenters

have a look now they are few and far between

these are now super rare in good order, this one is very good shape for its 54 years, has the normal soiling to white parts of sleeve, often found with this sleeve.

Please note that this album is complete and original 1st UK pressing and is priced for its rarety and attraction for collection purposes, the record and sleeve are original and over 54 years old

Led zeppelin II recorded on their "mayhem tours" in USA in 1969, this is very much the sound of a band at work and finding their direction.

The classic tracks are here by the bucketful, Whole Lotta Love, Lemon Song, Heartbreaker all jump off the grooves with incredible clarity.

Recorded at variuos studios including Olympic London and Sunset Sound Los Angeles.

Page got what he wanted here soundwise and the mixing done at various locations dictated by tour schedule are a credit to the producer.

This recording really put Zeppelin on the map and Atlantic had to give the highest advance to make sure Peter Grants Boys didn't look elsewhere, one of the greatest acts in rock history were in business to stay for a long time to come.

Litigation copy !

Only the first presses came out with "Lemon Song" On the label, this was hastily retitled on Peter Grants orders on later presses for fear of impending litagation from the estate of "blind lemon jefferson"  also has the rarer `Shes a Woman` error on label later corrected copies say `Shes just a Woman`

Grab yourself a piece of rock history!

the Green Spine copies are very very scarce

These are impossible to find in anything like this condition, also Plant gets songwriting credits for the first time as he is considered "permanent" following US reaction to the 12 month old line up.

The Record

First Available Matrix A2 B2

Vinyl is "Near Ex" Condition, it's a played copy, not a perfect, no skips or jumps. Some static in quieter parts,  not many.

Please note that this album is complete and original 1st UK pressing and is priced and being sold for its rarety

Near Excellent with only some removal and usage lines (see photos) from sleeve removal over the years, bear in mind this is a 54 year old vinyl record! Nice fat pre oil crisis 60s vinyl wow ! truly a collectors dream...at this price!

Great highs and lows great audio. Bass response is good,

At the start of side 2 there are some "static noise`` which is audible before jimmy Page hits the first note in track 1 "Heartbreaker" after music starts all clear throughout.

This is a great play through with no serious issues and great audio from this 1969 A2 B2 first press.

The vinyl has been played in its life (many years in storage in the vault)

No skips or sticks or jumps , we playtested on our super fussy Kenwood light tracking deck as well as the Rega all clear and  sounding very good.

No jumps or sticks on our Rega 3 a professional clean may assist (we don't do this as its an individual thing) there is some static in quieter places but not many of those..

Plays very good with bright crisp sound may benefit from a professional clean (we don't do this as it's an individual thing) some  static is noticeable in the quieter passages but not many of those!

The labels are "EX" are clean bright and free of writing doodles or stickers and retain great bold colours.

Still has its original `Plastic Bags Can Be Dangerous` inner sleeve see photo.

See pictures in the listing you can see the surface lines and scuffs on the record.

Plays clear with bright crisp sound may benefit from a professional clean (we don't do this as it's an individual thing) some background static is noticeable in the quieter passages but not many of those!

Nice Thick fat 70s pre oil crisis vinyl very flat on the table.

The sleeve

Very Good Condition

The lighter Brown 1st version

Having done it's job over its 54 years the sleeve has some ring wear and rounding corners but no rips or tears on the "EJ Day" London W1 sleeve with the "uptight and Outasight" Atlantic appreciation society (17-19 Stratford Place, London, W1)  message (not on later versions) (see photos) very goid

No splits or tears, colours are good and some fading, the thick card holds up well, no writing or names/stickers.

this has storage handling wear as you would expect over 54

Having done it's job over 54 years the sleeve has some ring wear (see photos rear cover)  and general removal and use wear.

there is the usual finger removal soiling to the white parts ofthis sleeve (see pictures in the listing) but light nothing drastic. this has a good spine  and normal 50+  wear. its a sound 54 year old original thick card "light brown" bomber cover with rare `Green Spine`

Kept in a PVC sleeve for many years vertical in storage. The rare "Green spine" is readable and in good order.

The corners are a little rounded from storage , holding up well no serious bends or tears, doing great for 54.

Spine shows solid green at bottom and top indication of the earliest version.this was abandoned soon after.

No splits or tears, colours are good and clear only wear from use over the years to the sleeve , the thick card holds up well, no writing , names or stickers. the rear cover shows some light ringwear only see photos, the cover is looking in very good order.

on the whole a very good sleeve and a great collectable " near EX" 1st UK press 1969 vinyl.

This is a great copy for someone looking for a wholly original 1st press of this great album. not if the buyer wants a "Mint" " or a perfect reissue this is a "used 54 year old vinyl record and sleeve"

"Nr Mint" and some "Excellent" advertised copies are almost impossible now £500+ (see my other listings) This is very good plus  , close ex in most tracks.

This is a lemon song on label A2 B2 pressing these were only produced in Red Plum with "Lemon Song" on the label for the first few months of release...a bargain "Near Ex " under £450.

on later copies "Killin Floor" was substituted for "Lemon Song " and a darker brown outer cover was used.. the early 1 st presses are now getting hard to find in reasonable condition as they were "played"
