From Vee-Jay Records (LP 1014), this is  GO by PAUL CHAMBERS,

an original monaural high fidelity pressing from 1959.

Opening Comments:

Cover has what appears to be a slight factory flaw front surface bottom right;

back surface has some fading. The front flaw is not a tear; it is a spot where

another jacket became stuck during a factory process. It can be removed to

reveal a perfect section beneath. However, this might require professional help.

In any case, we're leaving it as is and allowing the buyer to make the decision.

Overall, the jacket is sturdy showing intact seams and strong, perfectly blocked

spine with printing dead center. There are light spindle marks on both label sides

but playing surfaces show high gloss which usually means no groove wear. It is a

deep groove pressing.

Side one looks VG+ and plays about EX+ and better with the following comments.

Some moderate surface noise is present at beginning of first cut but settles down

playing quietly throughout. There is absolutely no distortion even in the more dynamic

passages and even with the volume cranked up. Also, no lingering or constant noise

is present, no startling pops or clicks and certainly no skips.

The rhythm section is very clean -- no thumps or thuds from the bass and none of that

pfft noise surrounding lower tones and bass drum. Both trumpet and piano are bright w/o

being too shiny or thin. This side easily plays VG+ to NEAR MINT.

Side two plays with a good bit less surface noise at the beginning, quickly settles down

to a solid NEAR MINT showing no distortion, no pops or clicks and no skips.

Summary Comments:

This is a superb high fidelity recording with sparse applause after each solo flourish

suggesting a small club or studio. Each player knows where team-mates are at any

given moment in these lean, spacious and intelligent performances. Though some fine

audiophile pressings have been made of this session, none come close to the original.

You won't find a better example of an original in this lifetime!
