For auction is "BENNIE GREEN Blows His Horn" on Prestige LP 7052, MONO, 1956. With Charlie Rouse, Candido, others.  My research shows that this is a re-issue of a 1955 10-inch record of the same name, but this issue includes 5 additional tunes.

SOUND: VG/VG+

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Overall, the playback is excellent, but there are a couple caveats: There are 3 consecutive, quick, "scrapes" in A1, "Sometimes I'm Happy." Not too loud, and it's over in about 2 seconds. The only other thing is, a few brief instances of soft surface noise here and there, nothing much, but it must be mentioned. These issues are very brief, and aside from these, the sound on 95% the playback is really quite clean, clear and really delightful!

VINYL: VG

Visually, the vinyl has a number of marks or scuffs. I couldn't find anything "feel-able." The flaw I described above on A1 could be attributed to what I can only describe as a lengthwise mark, or it could be dirt, in the groove at that point. I'm no expert so I can't say. If dirt, I assume it could be cleaned. Otherwise, like I said above, it's 2 seconds of noise.

The labels are gold-and-black "fireworks." Labels have the "446 W. 50th St" address. Both sides have deep-grooves and "RVG" etched in the run-offs.

COVER: VG

The cover is OK. The edges are pretty good, with the exception of a 2-inch split in th center spine, and a 1-inch split top left. The corners have medium wear, fraying, etc. Not too bad. The front cover is unmarked, with a small crease top left corner, and some moderate shelf-wear/dirt. The back cover has routine wear and a bit of writing in ink.

The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.

I was extremely critical in my grading. Better to err on the conservative side! The record has a couple small issues, but the vast majority sounds terrific!  No reserve, bidding starts at $10.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
