For auction is ZOOT SIMS and AL COHN's "Either Way" on Fred Miles Presents FM-1, DG, 1961. With Cecil Collier, others.
SOUND: VG+
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Overall, an outstanding playback. The 1st two cuts on Side A have some soft surface noise, with a few tiny "tics." Really not a big deal. A3, "Sweet Lorraine," is the most affected, with greater tics, in both volume and quantity. Still, not too bad, this cut would be VG on its own. A4 is excellent, very clean. Side B is outstanding, sound-wise, with clear, brilliant playback. Totally awesome!
VINYL: VG/VG+
Visually, the vinyl matches the playback. Side A has one broad scuff across B3, the effect of which I described. Also, a few hairline marks in A1-A3. Side B looks clean, glossy, and newish. No flaws I can see. The record is on the "Fred Miles Presents" label, with deep-grooves. The labels are in excellent shape. Side B has a few spindle marks, though.
JACKET: VG
The jacket is split on the left-spine, but top and bottom edges are good and solid. Both front and back covers have medium wear, but clean and unmarked.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
An outstanding, swinging record! No reserve, bidding starts at $20.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
