Rachmaninov Rhapsody on a Theme Katchen UK Decca SXL 2176
Julius Katchen with the London Philharmonic conducted by Adrian Boult performs the “Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini” by Rachmaninov and the Dohnanyi “Variations on a Nursery Tune”. An English stereo pressing on the Decca Label (SXL 2176 stampers 2G(R)/2G(R), the labels have a fatband, ffss logo, Made in England at 10 o clock and a groove. The record is of excellent appearance, and plays and sounds superb with a minimum of surface noise. The cover is excellent.
