Hard to find: 1973 "QUADRAPHONIC"
with different song mixes from the 'regular' known 1971 release...
The 1973 Quadraphonic original issue uses a then, specially designed SQ decoder permiting the a 4 channel sound separation (as opposed to the regular 2 channel) when playback is through the quad system or even surround sound receiver, resulting in completely different song mixes that can be detected even on the 'normal' stereo system. The record company changed around the song mixes (sounding like things were added) to enhance the quadraphonic 4-channel listening experience

"Marionette".."Oh God these wires are so tight". Damn, when these guys are on, the almost out Bowie Bowie!Mott the Hoople hit their stride with the release of THE HOOPLE album. They are rockers to the core and this album has so many unique twists and turns in the production of songs ~ it sets it out in its own category. All of the members of the group give their exceptional talents and the end result probably blew even the band away back in 1974 when it came out.
Kicking off with the old styled rocker "The Golden Age of Rock N Roll", we immediately plunge into the crazed acid trips of the dramatic "Marionette" and soon into the manic "Crash Street Kids".
Still the Bowie influence remains and overall their hardest rocker, filled with high-wired creativeness and exceptional playing. The wiry spring-board guitar work often chugs along only to explode in aural delights by way of Spooky Tooth's Luther Grosvenor , who took over guitar duties from Mick Ralphs (who formed Bad Company.)
The album has stood the test of time, being as infectious now as it was then!
