"Let's Spend the Night Together" is a song written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, and originally released by The Rolling Stones as a double A-sided single together with "Ruby Tuesday" in 1967.

It also appeared as the opening track on the American version of their album Between the Buttons.

It has been covered by various artists, most famously David Bowie in 1973.

The song was recorded at Olympic Sound Studios by producer Andrew Oldham and sound engineer Glyn Johns in November, 1966. In the December 1968 issue of Hit Parader, Glyn Johns is interviewed about his work with the band in an article entitled "Recording The Stones". Johns recounts that while mixing "Let's Spend the Night Together", Oldham was trying to get a certain sound by clicking his fingers. Two policemen showed up, stating that the front door was open and that they were checking to see if everything was all right. At first, Oldham asked them to hold his earphones while he snapped his fingers but then Johns said they needed a more wooden sound. The policemen suggested their truncheons and Mick Jagger took the truncheons into the studio to record the claves-like sound that can be heard during the quiet break at one minute 40 seconds into the song.

Released in the United Kingdom as a single in January 1967, "Let's Spend the Night Together" reached No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was included on the American version of the Stones' album Between the Buttons, and was also released there as a single.

However, due to the then-controversial nature of the lyrics (with its suggestion of sex) most radio stations opted to play the flip side "Ruby Tuesday" instead. The two songs charted separately on the US Billboard Hot 100, "Let's Spend the Night Together" stalling at No. 55 while "Ruby Tuesday" became a No. 1 hit. "Let's Spend the Night Together" features piano by Rolling Stones contributor Jack Nitzsche, organ by Jones, Drums from Charlie Watts, piano, electric guitar and bass by Richards, lead vocals by Mick Jagger and backing vocals from both Jagger and Richards, but for unknown reasons, usual bassist Bill Wyman does not appear on this track.

"Ruby Tuesday" is a song recorded by The Rolling Stones in 1966, released in January 1967. The song, coupled with "Let's Spend the Night Together", was a number-one hit in the United States and reached number three in the United Kingdom.

Multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones played recorder, and the double bass was played jointly by bassist Bill Wyman (pressing the strings against the fingerboard) and Keith Richards (bowing the strings).

According to Keith Richards in a 1971 Rolling Stone interview, he wrote the song in a Los Angeles hotel room in early 1966 about a groupie he knew; he has also stated that it was about Linda Keith, his girlfriend in the mid-1960s. The song's lyrics concern an apparently free-spirited woman, with Jagger singing:

"Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you."

The Vinyl
On visual inspection this is of the original heavier and thicker vinyl and more robust than later pressings which are much more flimsier! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable. This looks superb, still retaining its original glossy sheen from new. Only in strong light very (very) few surface marks can possibly be seen caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its sleeve.   Importantly, (no) needle scratches that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops during the audio very rare to find on a Stones vinyl after 49 years!!

TheAudio
I have played this vinyl prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge! The audio is absolutely superbe cristal clear and vibrant throughout! Mega clear and vibrant Mono audio on all frequencies!. There were no distortion, no, loud contant clicks pops or of course any jumps. Note: Light background static/ticks heard on the run ins and outs but the main audio is superb.  Truly awesome and very rare for a 1st pressing.(NO) Signs of groovware at all! This audio is graded Very Near as Mint in my opinion!

Hear the audio for yourself in the player above! Actual recording from the vinyl!

PLEASE NOTE! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this album prior to listing as usual and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Please remember this is a 49 years old original vinyl (not a reissue) Please allow for the odd static (not) consistant through out the audio, perhapes only heard at run ins, run offs, intros or quieter places outros etc!,, This would have been originally played on a system that is 49 years old!
All indications i.e. that this vinyl has (not) been overplayed and in fact hardly played are the audio quality superbe on all frequencies and the fact there are barely a minimal amount of spider marks only!

The labels
This features the boxed Decca labels. These are superbe very light rubbing/markings that are only really noticed if looked for in my opinion, with very little spidering (I can barely see just a few) , little if (no) spindle ware! This vinyl has hardly been played at all at least just a minimal amount of times in my personal opinion!

The Record Cover Sleeve
This is the original 1st Issued light blue/white Decca paper sleeve. Correct for this issue. Light creasing/fading/yellowing with age only. No edge splits or tears. slight storage wear on one of the die cut holes, tiny tears. (see photos) The original. Note, The vinyl is now always stored separate from the sleeve.
