PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

:::: RAW - PRIMITIVE & WILD ::::  SIXTIES SCREAM TEEN THRILLS!

.........................................................................................................................................

Very Rare 1968 original Private USA garage/soul cooker LP released on Dee Bee Records.

By the way, the original owner had hoped to get $600 for this copy

(his $600 original price sticker will be included)

The mighty Chaparrals played a rocked out & driving style of interesting garage/soul that lands on the level of all the "Justice" label bands of the '60s - and is just as RARE. Listed in 1001 Record Collector Dreams book with 4 Stars for its extreme rarity...

Well here's the little bit of biographical information we've been able to come up with courtesy of the Bad Cat Records crew (check out their fine gear on the web)::::::

The CHAPARRELS hailed from central Pennsylvania (most of the members were from "Glen Rock"), the band was formed in 1966 by drummer Allen Knapp. Recruiting a bunch of high school friends, they started out doing popular covers at parties and local
dances. Knapp died the following year and was replaced by Rick Abel. In tribute the photo of Allen Knapp photo is in dedication is on the back cover ... Signed by the small, local DB label (and pressed in tiny quantities), 1968 saw the band release "Times To Remember". Musically the set's a stereotyped slice of pure garage rock, propelled more by sheer enthusiasm than talent - like all the great garage rock Lp's of the era were. Blown notes, rough tempos and strained vocals ("Stag-O-Lee"), abound. That said, to our ears the LPs interesting on two counts. The album's surprisingly accomplished given the low-tech production and the band's relative youth (Brent Berwager was only 13, while singer Jack Kroh and rhythm guitarist John Roberts were the elder statesmen at 18). The other surprise is the band's musical repertoire. Sure, cover bands weren't exactly rare in the mid-60s', but these guys concentrated on soul covers with a wild & raw white boy edge which makes for a killer style of the genre. Not what you'd expect from a Pennsylvania-based outfit. They also had great tastes, taking on material by George Clinton, Eddie Floyd and Otis Redding. In case anyone's interested, there are also two excellent originals. The lead-off track was penned by bassist Mel Weaver. The doomy closer "Empty" was written by former member Kent Rehrbach and is unlike anything else on the LP. Anyone remotely into the primitive garage rock sounds of the sixties is sure to wanna check this long lost LP out...
