JUST TO SAY HELLO ... parts one - two ... 7-inch, 45rpm "special disco" single by GHEORGHE ZAMFIR. Original French 1st pressing on PHILIPS label (6172 032), from 1977. Superior issue of this disco oddity featuring an intoxicating mix of influences from around the Mediterranean. Music led by Romanian EZ listening supremo, Gheorghe Zamfir on mystical pan-flute. Both sides are played in a balearic disco cum cosmic boogie style with yet another tropical / exotic 'je ne sais quoi' in the production. Zamfir is backed by funky French session players and spaced-out female vocalist from an orchestra directed by Jean-Claude Dequeant. Middle-eastern tinged percussion breaks / wonky synthesizers / fender rhodes / sexy "Je T'aime..." style vocals and flashes of yacht rock - fuzz guitar shredding on the killer JUST TO SAY HELLO - Part 2. Just choose your side as Part 1 is also amazing but we prefer Part 2 as it kicks-off with breaks and has a slightly murkier, dub feel. Lots of lo-fi boom bap and sleazy disco sounds. Great for DJs. Maybe the pinnacle sound of this oddball sub-genre. On a side note, there is also a wah wah funk and drum breaks tune out there called "Popas" by Ramon Tavernier that has a particular panpipe sound too ;) Striking, sleeve artwork with alternative colour scheme released a year before the Turkish issue on Disco Vox label. Rare 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG+ condition with a section of faint hairline scuffing to one side and faded old, machine generated pressing marks to both sides. Light surface noises (as you can hear on our soundclip). Mini pen squiggle to one side of label. The soft card picture sleeve is in strong VG++ condition overall regardless of the small archive stickers and archive numbers written in pen (front and back). Some ring creasing / ring dirt marks from storage (mostly to back sleeve). A little corner wear in places. Bottom seam at the open side has become partially unstuck but is easily fixed :) Still a sharp looking item. Rare 45!!!
