SUPER RARE ....ADVANCED RELEASE PROMO....MINT CONDITION
Highly sought after ORIGINAL 1970 first pressing vinyl on the highly collected 'Mainstream' label, home label to several garage & psych obscurity gems...
Rated by world psych collectors as one of the *best* on the MAINSTREAM label. Long songs, tight melodic tunes, great singing, all injected by strong guitar work.
LACEWING was the last "psych" Lp recorded by the Mainstream label...

Previously known in the OHIO area as the Measles. A name change to something 'hipper' was needed, so Lacewing became the new and short lived moniker . The Lacewing LP was recorded at Criteria studios in Miami, just like other NE Ohio bands on the label like Decembers' Children and Freeport.
LACEWING deliver drifty dreamy female vocals with superb backing. Lacewing have a really lovely sound that somewhat fits their name -- an approach to psyche that's partially infused by folkrock melodies which comes across with a bit more sensitivity than some of their contemporaries on the label! The guitar parts are strong, but also have a lightness too -- not as fuzzy or freaky as you might expect from Mainstream Records at the time, and further warmed up a bit with vocals from female singer Mary Sterpka. There's a bit of organ on the record, which occasionally has an equally light feel -- and in a way, Lacewing come across sounding like one of those great lost Marin County hippie groups of the late 60's who were eclipsed by some of the bigger acts of the time -- kind of a Bay Area-rural sound, if that makes any sense, and highlighted by the stunning "Paradox"
