RARE 40 YEARS OLD = WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL COPY
ROBIN TROWER
The Bridge Of Sighs
\ USA - CRYSALIS - 1057 (WHITE LABEL PROMO)
TOP COPY = Original 1974 first pressing of an often overlooked masterpiece that was actually wildly popular back in the mid '70s...but slipped from focus by many...here's the ultimate copy::: ADVANCED RELEASE WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL, 1974 pre-release
Lot's of juicy wah-drenched jamming with Robin trower His bending strings like they were made of rubber. For instance...the groove to 'Too Rolling Stoned' is irresistable.
Robin Trower, former guitarist for Procol Harum, completely cemented his place as a guitar god and wrote a chapter into guitar rock album history with His 1974 release Bridge Of Sighs. Trower's guitar is front, center, and owning everything in it's path. There is not a bad song on the album and it has arguably a couple of the greatest guitar rock songs ever written on it. Trower totally channels the spirit of Jimi Hendrix on the title cut, and the album progresses from strength to strength from there. Too Rolling Stoned rumbles like a panzer division bashing it's way through France. Day Of The Eagle Defines fiery. And About To Begin is almost transcendentally lovely. There is not a weak track to be had and some are heavy guitar masterpieces you can easily become totally lost in. A total masterpiece - but Trower did not do it alone ... without James Dewar or Reg Isidore this would be a different release, you see. Vocalist and bassist James Dewar does great in both of his respective departments; His singing perfectly complements the hypnotizing guitar line and his skills as a bassist should not be overlooked as he is definitely technically proficient and does well alongside drummer Reg Isidore. Overall it's a very fun, entertaining listen with enough flashy guitar licks & heavy atmopheres to Satisfy about everyone ...
