I, sit here every day,
Looking at the sky,
Ever wondering why,
I dream my dreams away,
And I'm living for today,
In my mind's eye.

Things are clearer than before,
Showing my the way,
Asking me to stay,
I'll never close the door,
To all these things and more,
  In my mind's eye.

Everybody I know, says I've changed,
Laughing behind their hands,
I think the're strange.

People running everywhere,
Running through my life,
I couldn't give a care,
'Cause they'll never see,
All that I can see,
With my mind's eye,

Ah, ah-ah-ah.... in my mind's eye,
Ah, ah-ah- ah.... in my mind's eye.
SMALL FACES: "My Mind's Eye"/"I Can’t Dance With You" MONO 45 RPM FIRST UK PRESS, 7th NOVEMBER, 1966.
Some of the earliest first pressings were mistakenly pressed with the Demo mix version of "My Mind's Eye", nothing drastically
different, but Steve Marriott's lead vocal was positively a different take.  Many, many years ago,a comment I made in private was
taken without my permission and printed in 'Record Collector Price Guide', creating the worst case of sheer ignorance claiming a
'rarity' that only existed on a few copies.   99.999 % of all record sellers back then and very much still today, are unqualified
and incapable of telling the two very similar versions apart, like all 'borrowed' information, 'Record Collector' made the usual
mistake of using the term, 'mix', the 'Demo' version was an 'Alternate Take' not an 'Alternate Mix, there is a huge difference to
a different mix and a different recording.  No, the records were not 'withdrawn' as 'Record Collector' stated, there was no point
to call back the few copies because as I said, hardly anyone could tell the difference.   Small Faces fanatics like myself were
able to hear slightly different versions on records, for example, the French Decca EP's and several compilation albums due to
Master Tapes retaining alternate versions and mixes, alongside the UK released versions.   Record Collector' made a terrible
error by stating all records with '- T1 - 1C' contained the 'withdrawn'/'Demo mix', oh no they didn't!  Only a few copies did and
they also failed to include how the indexing on both sides had to be the 'first of the first', - T1 - 1C' / '- T1 - 1C', but half
of the details I was talking about were remembered.  This record has a 'XDR 39325 - T1- 2C / XDR 39326 - T1 - 1C' maitrix, so
this has a single increment on the A-side only, the fantastic B-side is still at the starting point.

'Boxed' LOGO DECCA LABEL: F .12500
This was the first Small Faces single released on the re-designed label, their previous August, 1966 "All Or Nothing" single
was issued on the 'boxed' label.

MAITRIX:  XDR 39325 - T1- 2C / XDR 39326 - T1 - 1C .  (The 'First Of The First')
I will discuss the implications for the maitrix on this single below, all the details show this is a very first pressing, I have
included pictures of Decca's coded indexing at three & nine o'clock in the run-out grooves.  I compiled both side's coded letters
and 'mother' digits side by side, together in one picture for easier reading, here is the text, demonstrating how incredibly
early the few very first pressings have to be to contain the mistakenly pressed Demo version.

ORIGINAL 1966 DECCA SLEEVE, IN NEAR MINT- CONDITION.
Decca also re-designed the singles sleeves around the same time "My Mind's Eye" was released, a swirly turquoise sleeve replaced
the orange and white variety. Like any change over period, all existing orange & white sleeves were used up and first pressings
appeared in both types. In 1966 my original "My Mind's Eye" was in an orange sleeve but it could have easily have had the freshly
designed sleeve.  Condition wise this is unsplit, unfaded and barely even aged, unlike fake sleeves, this has had a record inside
for the last 50 years.  Made from the soft textured paper of the 60's, there is a record impression with a few minor related creases.

IMMACULATE LABELS WITH ONLY1/2 SPINDLE ALIGNMENT TRACES, THE DEEPLY GLOSSY RECORD IS LIKE BRAND
NEW WITHOUT ANY MARKS OR EVEN ANY SIGNS OF PLAYING OR HANDLING.  OFTEN RECORD SHOP'S PLAYED RECORDS
AND THEY WERE SOLD AS NEW, IN THIS IMMACULATE CONDITION I WILL ONLY GRADE THIS AS MINT-

Straight to the maitrix situation, ever since 'Record Collector' printed a few of the earliest pressings contained a demo version,
it has caused so many people to buy first pressing as rarities, but the majority are the standard or intended track to release.
At the record fairs we traded at before ebay existed, the same was true and like today, record sellers and collector's alike are
still reading this entry in the 'Price Guide' book;

"My Mind's Eye" - alternate mix, maitrix numbers end  T1 - 1C."

Ever since becoming a professional record seller,  I only sell Small Faces original singles and albums in a minimum of Near Mint
to Mint, so I rarely do and I take every opportunity to alert collector's to tread really warily if offered "My Mind's Eye" as that
'withdrawn rare alternate mix', just because the maitrix ends 'T1 - 1C.'  If all did have the demo version, it would not be rare,
but only a few copies were pressed with a slightly different version.  All this detracts from an absolutely stunning Mint record
and positively a first pressing, by definition of being in a UK record shop on the day of release,  Life would so simple if I
could just say I have genuine experience of the era and my passion for records and music does not require text books or websites,
but I accept facts are the only method available to contradict respected text books like 'Record Collector's Price Guide.'

I would rather turn that passion in the direction of the music in the grooves of the records, by late 1966 the Small Faces had
recorded their superb debut album, that contained an acid connected track, "E to D" and they now stood on the threshold of full
psychedelia.  The lyrics and the glorious melody of "My Mind's Eye" was their first psychedelic track released as the A-side of a
single, in a matter of weeks, the restrictions imposed by Decca would be removed and Andrew Oldham's Immediate label would
finally allow them the studio time to create psychedelic masterpieces.  "My Mind's Eye" is rarely acknowledged as a psychedelic
track but it was way ahead of it's time, turn it over though and for all the beautiful vocal harmonies and exquisite production,
you find one of the heaviest r&b performances they ever recorded!  They rock out like crazy and fuelled by Ronnie's loud bass,
Mac's amazing Hammond, Kenney's thunderous drums, Steve's stinging blues guitar and a vocal of such staggering proportions, you
can only wonder how you just heard him singing so softly and gently.  More like a lullaby followed by a hurricane!   Unreleased
on an album, "I Can’t Dance With You" figures among the greatest 60's B-sides, and a track worthy of placing alongside anything
released on the Stax or Atlantic label.  No stamped digit or letter could possibly prepare you for a single of this magnitude, the
contrast is extraordinary and I now really wish I opened the description with this instead of pressing details, I still feel very
strongly about records being sold on the basis of tiny stamped figures.  Records always were about music and sounds and I do
my best to give a balanced view, talking about "E to D" and "I Can’t Dance With You" being heavy r&b/blues, Led Zeppelin were
strongly influenced by this period of the Small Faces music.  Ronnie Lane was an incredible bass guitarist and if you listen to
the intro to "I Can’t Dance With You," his presence was essential to the band, that amazing intro gave Steve a perfect platform
to launch his stunning vocals from. In fact, that track is so immense, you have to cite the influence of Otis Redding's records in
the same 1966, the Small Faces were That Great and they made records to die for!

I now feel like I have described both tracks, which makes any attempt to repeat it futile, I pre-played the record and the sound
was sheer perfection.   Loud, powerfully impacting and a joy to hear from a Mint first pressing, no crackles or clicks etc. just
the Small Faces at their most melodic and then stomping their way through a Hammond led r&b extravaganza.  I think I have said
all that was required in text & pictures can do the rest.  Beside, how many first pressings still have near silent run-in grooves
to "My Mind's Eye"  and the delicate, beautiful intro perfectly clean and clear of any crackles?
  {Roy}   R & M RECORDS.

My lifetime's love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960's decade
in general had a very profound effect. It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl
into becoming a professional record seller.  Nearly thirty years ago we entered into the wonderful atmosphere
of record fairs with the highest possible standards set. When the Internet became the world's new market place for
vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay. Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be,
the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly
and very efficient service we are proud to provide;

We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office's new price increases, regretfully we
will have to increase the cost of LP's, however, singles will remain unchanged.  Ebay were aware of that happening and have
increased their minimum postal cost for LP's to £7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become
our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of £46.  A temporary reduction this week means we can
now post LP's for £5, but who knows how long before the Post Office return to £7?

For LP's valued above £46, the cost will be £9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant
in 13 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future.

IN THE UK RECORDS UP TO THE VALUE OF £46 WILL BE SENT RECORDED DELIVERY, OVER £46 WILL BE
SENT SPECIAL DELIVERY.
