Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 UK albums that I have accumulated over a period of more than 45 years or more! This is the earliest possible 1st UK Pressing of The Alvin Lee Band "Free Fall" album released in 1980 very scarce and collectable to find in this tip top condition! The audio quality is absolutely stunning through out this album. The vinyl looks and sounds like it has never been played at all in my opinion. (No spider traces visable on the labels) Very rare for 36 years old! The audio is graded as near mint cristal clear and very, very vibrant through out. There are no needle scratches or marks that would cause any loud annoying constant clicks or pops on this vinyl. The original 1st issue fully laminated Garrod & Lofthouse cover is also in exceptional condition being stored in a case with the vinyl removed and separated from the cover for protection, . This is how I have always stored my records! Cover is also graded at least excellent plus in my opinion! A very collectable and sought after album especially in this condition!

Alvin Lee (born Graham Anthony Barnes; 19 December 1944 – 6 March 2013) was an English singer and guitarist, best known as the lead vocalist and lead guitarist of the blues rock band Ten Years After.

Lee's performance at the Woodstock Festival was captured on film in the documentary of the event, and his 'lightning-fast' playing helped catapult him to stardom. Soon the band was playing arenas and stadiums around the globe. The film brought Lee's music to a worldwide audience, although he later lamented that he missed the lost freedom and spiritual dedication with his earlier public.

Lee was named "the Fastest guitarist in the West", and considered a precursor to shred-style playing that would develop in the 1980s.

Ten Years After had success, releasing ten albums together, but by 1973, Lee was feeling limited by the band's style.

Moving to Columbia Records had resulted in a radio hit song, "I'd Love To Change the World", but Lee preferred blues-rock to the pop to which the label steered them. He left the group after their second Columbia LP. With American Christian rock pioneer Mylon LeFevre, along with guests George Harrison, Steve Winwood, Ronnie Wood and Mick Fleetwood, he recorded and released On the Road to Freedom, an acclaimed album that was at the forefront of country rock.

Also in 1973 he sat in on the Jerry Lee Lewis double album The Session...Recorded in London with Great Artists recorded in London featuring many other guest stars including Albert Lee, Peter Frampton and Rory Gallagher.

A year later, in response to a dare, Lee formed Alvin Lee & Company to play a show at the Rainbow in London and released it as a double live album, In Flight. Various members of the band continued on with Lee for his next two albums, Pump Iron! and Let It Rock.

In late 1975, he played guitar for a couple of tracks on Bo Diddley's The 20th Anniversary of Rock 'n' Roll all-star album.

He finished out the 1970s with an outfit called "Ten Years Later", with Tom Compton on drums and Mick Hawksworth on bass, which released two albums, Rocket Fuel (1978) and Ride On (1979), and toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States.

The Vinyl

This is the original thicker , heavier chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest original pressings! (Later press are much more flimsier and less robust)!

The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warps. The vinyl has retained its original sheen from new in my opinion on initial inspection this looks like it has obviously not been played that much and in my opinion, I can't see any spider traces on the labels!! On close inspection any marks that could possibly be seen would be very light sleeve removal/scuffs only but importantly no audio sounding marks or needle marks that would cause any loud clicks or pops that I heard at all!

The audio quality

I have played this track for track at very loud volume prior to listing at very loud volume two times! From the moment that the needle hits the playing surface , it is obvious that this vinyl not only visually but audibly has only had very very minimal play only! The audio is stunning cristal clear and vibrant, very bright and clear throughout without any signs of distortion at all and plays with a lovely deep bassey feel only found like this on earliest pressings!  I would grade the audio very near as mint in my opinion! (I don't think that you will find better very rich and vibrant through out)

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for isolated static/ticks only, and not consistent through out the audio. Please remember that this is a genuine 43 year old record that would have originally been played on a 42 year old system.

The Labels

These are the original Avatar labels (see photos)   The labels are rich in colour and are very clean , all text is fully readable. It is obvious to me that this vinyl has only had barely been played only by the fact that I find it hard to even see a spider mark.,   the spindle hole is free of any  ware and of course is perfectly round!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original plain white paper record sleeve no splits or tares, "Masde In England" printed on one side. Very nice!

The Cover

This Is The Original 1st UK issue Fully laminated Garrod & Lofthouse printed cover in absolutely stunning condition through out, concidering this is 36 years old! Super glossy in appearance. No splits or tares.  all text is readable! There is very, very light rubbing/storage wear with age but is only noticed if looked for in my opinion  but  no real nasty creases to report. Any indents or marks on this cover you have to look to notice. The cover has always been seperated from the vinyl and sleeve since purchased from new! The rear is also very clean minor wear/rubbing only! The spine is square Unbeleivably rare like this! Graded at  least excellent plus in my opinion!
