Caravan : Waterloo Lily 3W / 3W 1st Press Brown Deram 1972

This first pressing on the brown Deram label is stunning!  It is easily the finest example I have ever listened to, the clarity, depth, power and warmth of the audio is exceptional.  S1 is 'as new' and S2 is not far off that either.  'The Love In Your Eye' has just one very quiet tick and another slightly more obvious one and aside from that plays perfectly, not bad for a 12 minute plus track!  That is the only background across the entire album, there are no other ticks, clicks or pops and there is no underlying static either.  Like I say the clarity of sound is stunning.  Not surprisingly the vinyl is visually in superb condition also.

The cover has been so well looked after with no obvious wear and has clearly not been handled very much.  Best example I have seen.  The original Plastic Bags... inner sleeve is also in excellent shape.

Visual description
The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a small number of ultra faint hairlines and even they are difficult to find!  There is no groove wear or bag 'rash' and the run out grooves are also very clean.  The brown Deram labels have no marking aside from a little spindle wear.
Play grading
The intro and opening vocal section on 'Waterloo Lily' play with exceptional clarity and the following chorus is just as impressive.  It continues in the same way where every note is so clean and precise.  The instrumental section is faultless and the very quiet passage plays with stunning clarity - remember how quiet it is!  There is no intrusion on the crystal clear audio and the remainder plays to the same high end standard.  From start to finish the clarity is 'as new' and Mint is richly deserved.
There is one light click in the dead wax and then 'Nothing At All' plays with stunning precision through every section.  The sonic quality cannot be faulted and Sinclair's strong bass has a lot to do with this.  The sax section has no background either and the long fade out has not even a single dust tick.  'It's Coming Soon' is next and the gentle piano section plays beautifully with background aside from one very light static.  The clarity here is astounding and it has an almost CD like aesthetic quality but with the warmth and depth you only find on vinyl.  The 'Nothing At All (reprise)' ends the side with sublime audio once more.  I only noticed a couple of minor ticks but that was only because I was listening very carefully, they are so quiet you could easily miss them!  The clarity and power of the audio is stunning and this trio grade as Mint, Mint and Mint- in that order.  Even then the minus is a little harsh!
'Songs And Signs' ends the side with impeccable clarity and warmth throughout.  More evidence of a vinyl so well preserved and I have no hesitation in grading it as Mint such is the quality, a perfect version.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The intro on 'Aristocracy' plays with stunning clarity and the opening vocal section is on the same level.  It proceeds in the same way and in all honesty it sounds like it has never been spun on a turntable before.  The warmth and depth of the recording is so impressive and from the first note to the last including the long fade out there is not so much as a single dust tick.  An easy one to grade it is Mint in every way.
'The Love In Your Eye' begins with a very quiet vocal and it plays beautifully with no intrusion.  As the volume increases into the next vocal the quality is still there and then the instrumental section plays with STUNNING precision.  Every note is so clean and succinct and the only background is one faint tick just before the 'quieter' passage that is not intrusive.  The final vocal has a static tick in the left channel that is a little more obvious but still not loud and then the end instrumental quite simply plays 'as new' with no interference.  Incredible power and depth here.  Clearly 99% plays to a Mint standard but I will grade as Near Mint due to the two minor infringements.
'The World Is Yours' ends this fine album with wonderful clarity once more.  The opening instrumental is flawless and the first vocal has just one minor static and no other background.  The first chorus is perfect and it continues to play with a clarity and warmth that is second to none.  There is no interference and the long fade out is just as clean.  This is definitely a Mint- conclusion to this classic album.

The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve

The cover is in superb condition with barely any wear.  The top edges are so clean and the bottom edges have only very minor rubbing towards the right corners.  The wide spine is unmarked and is only slightly angled and all corners are in great shape also with hardly any wear.  The opening edges appear untouched and the front and back cover are immaculate!  The inside of the gatefold is equally impressive with no marking at all and barely any of the fading that you so often see.  A stunning example.

The original poly-lined blue stereo inner (dated 4-72) is in excellent order with no side splits or tears just some light creasing.  It has a little marking down the sides due to the glue showing through, a common thing, and a few glue 'spots' also along the top edge.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
