Iron Maiden : No Prayer For The Dying A-1U / B-1U 1st Press 1990

This first pressing plays with remarkable audio all the way through and has to be the most 'complete' version I have ever heard.  It is a FINAL UPGRADE without question.  In essence there is no interference and the clarity, depth, power and definition of the audio is stunning.  I suspect it has hardly been played such is the sonic quality and indeed there is no spindle wear.  A stunning album in so many way.

The cover is in excellent shape with only one small rub on the top edge and the lyric inner is 'as new' with no splits, creasing etc.

Visual description

This vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a lovely glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  I can only see a small number of faint hairlines under a bright light and there is certainly nothing that stands out.  There is no groove wear and it seems to me this record has hardly been played.  The labels are unmarked and have no spindle wear.

Play grading

The intro on 'Tailgunner' plays with stunning precision, I cannot overstate just how good and the audio seems even stronger and deeper than usual!  The opening vocal section / chorus is equal to that and the mid instrumental again plays like the record has never been on a turntable before, perhaps it hasn't!  It carries on in the same way with a sonic quality sent from the audio Gods (!) and it easily grades as Mint it truly is a spectacular version.

'Holy Smoke' keeps up this fine standard and plays with phenomenal quality through every section.  Dickinson's vocal does seem higher in the mix on this album and it is certainly very strong and clear here.  From start to finish there is zero interference and it plays as well as it would have done back in 1990.  Mint

The intro on 'No Prayer For The Dying' plays beautifully and the opening vocal is flawless.  It continues in the same way with no ticks, clicks, pops or static and once again I cannot stress enough just how impressive the audio depth and resonance is here.  Superb production again - ok a couple of light ticks on the fade out so I will grade as Mint- accordingly.

'Public Enema Number One' is a powerful dynamic track (no surprise there!) and the sonic quality is just incredible!  No interference, just pure Maiden power with nothing getting in the way of the audio.  Mint

The low key intro on 'Fates Warning' is faultless and Dickinson's opening vocal is 'as new' for sure.  From then on it plays with outstanding power and depth and the clarity of sound is 10/10 also.  For a final track the sonic 'landscape' is so impressive and there is no inner groove distortion whatsoever.  Harris' bass adds a genuine sense of depth here and this track provides a Mint conclusion to S1 and wow what a side!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Another intro that plays to perfection on 'The Assassin' and then Dickinson's opening vocal are just as strong.  It continues to play with such accuracy and nothing intrudes on the audio.  The mid instrumental is 'as new' and let's face it that applies to the whole album so far!  The final vocal section keeps up the standard and you will not be surprised this is Mint

You would perhaps expect some background on the 'Run Silent Run Deep' quiet intro and yet the clarity is superb, there are only a handful of barely audible statics.  It then plays with impeccable quality through every section and Mint is deserved.

'Hooks In You' and 'Bring Your Daughter...To The Slaughter' both play with stunning power and definition and.... no interference.  I do not want to sound repetitive here but it's difficult with audio as clean and precise as this!  Both classics in their own right and they grade as Mint

'Mother Russia' ends the album with stunning quality.  The intro has only a hint of barely audible static for a few seconds, the clarity is superb for this relatively quiet section.  The opening vocal is perfect and as for the following instrumental section?  Seriously turn it up to max the sonic quality is incredible!  This track is a favourite of mine perhaps because it has 'progressive' overtones and there is no doubting the quality of the audio here.  The power and depth throughout this entire section is just STUNNING and there is no distortion on the top end.  The playback is phenomenal but where the pace quickens towards the end - it's just on another level.  The final vocal passage has no interference and the quiet end section plays beautifully with not one dust tick.  I will say Mint- but it has to be the most 'complete' version I have ever listened to.

The Cover & Lyric Inner

The cover is in excellent condition with only minimal shelf wear.  The top edge has one small rub in the centre but has not resulted in a split.  Aside from that the edges are very clean with no other rubbing and the spine has just one very small faint indent type mark.  All corners are in superb shape with barely any wear and the opening edge is pristine.  The front cover is as close to perfect as is possible with just very faint creasing, so minor it might not even show up on the photos!  The back cover is in similar condition with just one tiny 'nick' by the left edge.  A fine example overall.

The glossy lyric inner is in perfect condition with no wear at all.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
